Out of curiosity, which part of this device that makes it so desirable to you? I’m getting one to compare with BTR5. I like the volume knob and the boost mode to drive earphones with fixed 3.5mm cable.

PS. Will it still not support microphone signal if I use headsets with Up4 ? Will many codecs work on Windows 11 in laptops, which have bluetooth 5.0?

UP4 22 is identical to UP4 in all aspects apart from the DAC/AMP.

Support of Bluetooth codecs is independent from Bluetooth version.

I've connected it to two separate Android phones, and on both phones the UP4 2022 will have audio hiccups / blips while listening to music. On my Xperia 10 (an older phone, Android 10), the blips are every 5-10 seconds. On my Galaxy S22 (new, Android 12), the blips are less frequent, but still happening.

I've connected a Fiio BTR5 separately to test and confirmed the blips are NOT happening with the Fiio. Both the BTR5 and the UP4 are connecting via LDAC.

I'm reviewing the UP4 2022 too. Same problem here. Android, iPhone, even wired connection. The blips are more noticeable and more frequent with the boost mode. I have been thinking that this is a unit-specific problem, since I don't believe that this kind of problem can happen to Shanling stuffs.

Thanks for the file. Unfortunately, I have not been able to update. I managed to put the UP4 in DFU mode (pressing wheel and mode button until the red light turns off), however the CSR BlueCore in DFU mode does not appear under Universal Serial Bus controllers. My laptop is on Windows 11 (latest update). I tested with every USB port and multiple cables.

Btw, the ShanlingUpgradeTool.exe that you share in in Chinese.

My review of Shanling UP4 2022 is now available on both Head-Fi and my review blog.

Besides some hiccups with the initial firmware, UP4 2022 is nice. I like how it sounds a bit different from my other DAC/AMPs and DAP. A different flavour, you can say. The handling is excellent.
