Mine is already gone…to the cats
That is awesome. I feel very fortunate that I got to see him about 5 years ago. He toured North America and managed to play the Paramount in Seattle.A circle back again!
In 1988 I worked for said UK computer comapny. My brother can down for this concert: https://www.jeanmicheljarre.com/live/destination-docklands
All the local roads were closed and the weather was abysmal so that the huge crowds could walk from the station to the venue. I was s sailor then and we both were dressed in foul-weather gear and took some ribbing from otehrs in the crowd as we walked in and socilaized at the venue.
They went quieted down when it pi$$ed it down. One person towards the front decided to put up a huge umbrella. Have you ever heard many thousands of folks build a chant directed at one person?
Fun times. I just sent my brother the link.
Yes, an old picture. And when I moved I was shocked to find out there was wood under there. Cool, huh? That must be an old photo, you obviously have upgrades now. I am starting to know your setup better than my own.
Upgrades:
Naturally Finnegan was involved.
Ooh! I wanted that Cal transport and tube dac back in the day but they just weren’t in my budget. The office stack (CAL Delta to Modi to Sys) thence to Superphone DM220 (under desk, natch) and Paradigm Ref Studio 20’s, plus sub in back corner.
Ain’t the big rig, but great to work to… No room for Yggy’s here, nor am I completely convinced is it needed given rest of chain. Not neat, but heck I actually WORK here all day… (if a cluttered desk is the sign of a cluttered mind, then what is an empty desk the sign of?)
Now that my Schiit journey has entered the Yggy phase, I need to be careful, or things could get expensive fast. So many possibilities, Lokius Max? Tyr’s? Urd?
Reminds me, I need to see what the CAL into Yggy is like…
Never ends
I get a new one of these (needed due to my arthritis) literally every 18 months… I wear the lettering off at about the same rate as the “faux leather” wrist wrest delaminates…Dood. New keyboards are dirt cheap these days!
Cat picture to level up.HELL. YES.
This is Level 99 effort here.
The cat will get you that coveted Level 100 and the platinum trophy.
Hey Tom, how are you mounting the tube sideways on wood? I have one without the glass (long story) that I want to image at high-res and I need to mount the tube sideways somehow.Quartered oak very nice! 4756543[/ATTACH]
I used a lot of it to give the appearance of age.
I used a forstner bit to cut an opening for the tube socket then hot glued it in place. I used a long bit inside the solid wood for necessary wiring. I also made sure the tube socket contacts were extremely tight. The large tube does support headphones.Hey Tom, how are you mounting the tube sideways on wood? Very nice and a thoughtful way to keep the tubes. When I look at the photo I see a place for a double mini rack including the Soekris that would sit on top of the Pass unit. Perhaps with a couple socket holders built in for adapters. But that is just how I think.I have my small stash of tubes all over the place...went to Lowes today and saw this small cute too box for $20.
Hmmm, tubes ? Maybe?
Well:
I use this area for photoshop and printing, matting and framing photos...long story, another money pit.
Now its mostly a headphone listening room
Arrangement changes on a almost daily basis and stuff people and vendors send me to play with..
Off camera are other cans, dacs and amps.
Damn, nice! Now I'm thinking about tube storage...I have my small stash of tubes all over the place...went to Lowes today and saw this small cute too box for $20.

And a Norton Commando was my ride of choice back in 1974.Norton Commander was my file manager of choice back in the himem.sys days.
Those were the days. Using debug to format 20 MB SCSI drives to put in IBM PCs. It was always fun entering all the bad sectors provided with the drive by the mfg.
