This is probably a silly question to ask after signing up, but the Narukami system includes a headphone as well, right? The $108,000 includes a headphone too. Not that it makes the price any more reasonable. I’m just saying we’re not just testing an amp there.
Whether or not the headphone is included in the price, I'd strongly encourage you to (also) audition the amp with your own favorite headphone. Everyone I spoke with shared my opinion that the headphone wasn't remotely on the same performance tier as the amp. FWIW.

Oooh. Never heard of Yishun laksa. Got to go look it up. The goto here is Katong laksa. However, there are some hidden gems that only the locals crawl to.

Guys where can I buy Audio CDs in Singapore? Genres: rock, metal, alternative, etc.
I have never bought any cds of music from the first two genres you apparently like and also use in your reviews ? To me there is little connection between most Rock Music and HIFI sound quality. Electric guitars and HIFI do not "mix well" imo. Not sure what you mean by alternative? But unless things have changed dramatically since my latest visit to Singapore the best place I know of for both HIFI equipment and both cds and LPs used to be the Adelphi across the Green a few blocks away from Canjam. Lots of shops under one roof .Entry was also free of charge to all shops there. Some even have quiet listening rooms where unlike at Canjam in most cases ,one can actually judge SQ of both equipment and recordings. Cheers CC

Well, I use other genres as well. And to be honest, I am able to tell the FR of an IEM much quicker from rock and metal given the broad range of frequencies represented in the genre, like whether a high hat is off and has too much sizzle, whether the attack of a guitar is off, how well the kick drums show impact, how well seperated the bass guitar plucks are from the kick drum, how thick or thin vocals sound, etc. So no, I disagree. Rock and metal can definitely be used to assess gear whether it constitutes HIFI or not. It really depends on the person doing the testing and what he is listening for.

But most people don't just listen to one or two genres when they assess gear and neither do I.

On the topic of Adelphi - yeah I thought so. I have been there. Will check it out. Thank you. :)

I believe there is Roxy Disc House in Adelphi. It has an extensive collection as far as I recall.

Myths About Measurements
1:00p to 2:00p

Objective measurements are everywhere in audio. Never before has so much data been so accessible so easily, but is that a good thing? Learn why measurements shouldn’t always be trusted, why we should always take measurements with a sizable grain of salt, why we should never treat them as absolutes, and how objective measurements are often quite subjective. Most importantly, learn about what’s being done to address these flaws, to achieve better clarity for us all moving forward.
SPEAKER: Konstantin Davy (Oratory1990), Acoustic Engineer, USound GmbH

Digital Isn’t
2:00p to 3:00p

Digital is digital, it's all ones and zeroes. Except that, no it isn't. Beyond the fundamentals of the digital-to-analogue conversion process, there are a host of additional factors that can dramatically affect the sound of your DAC — and consequently, what you will hear through your signal chain. Discover how power supplies, analogue devices and circuit design, galvanic isolation, digital cables and more can dictate your listening experience. But most importantly, learn how sometimes, digital isn’t.
SPEAKER: Rob Watts, Digital Design Consultant, Chord Electronics

In-Ear Monitors: Masters of the Golden Age
3:00p to 4:00p

Recent advancements in the development of In-Ear Monitors see us entering a new golden age of IEMs in terms of innovation, performance and fidelity. Join us to have all your questions answered by our panel of master IEM designers and engineers — who encompass a wide range of design philosophies — to learn all about how far IEMs have come, and more importantly, where IEMs are going in the future.
PANELISTS: Dr. John Moulton, Ph.D (Noble Audio); Lee Quan Min (Elysian Acoustic Labs); Oliver Marino (Vision Ears); Hans JAPM Witjes (Canpur Audio); Joseph Mou (Jomo Audio & Metal Magic Research).

Critical Listening: How to Judge
1:00p to 2:00p

Many designers use listening tests to improve the design of their products. But since the provenance of recordings are unknown, how can one be sure that genuine improvements are being made so that real progress towards transparent reproduction is being achieved. It is very easy to think that an "improvement" is actually better when it's worse. Objectively assessing sound quality is key and this seminar will explain how. This will be followed by a Q&A session when you can ask any question about Digital audio.
SPEAKER: Rob Watts, Digital Design Consultant, Chord Electronics

MEMS Speakers - What They Can and Can’t Do
2:00p to 3:00p

Loudspeakers have come a long way, and conventional manufacturing techniques are tickling the limits. With the advent of MEMS, new possibilities open up! But what actually is a MEMS speaker? How many different types are there? In this seminar we’ll learn which limits will be expanded with this technology, and which limits still stand. Learn about applications for these speakers and whether or not they will replace conventional speakers.
SPEAKERS: Konstantin Davy (Oratory1990), Acoustic Engineer, USound GmbH; Antonio Di Rosso, Head of Sales, USound GmbH.

Unlocking the Potential of MEMS Speakers: A New Frontier for Audiophiles
3:00p to 4:00p

While MEMS speakers seem to offer significant benefits over traditional drivers - like faster response times, higher resolution, compact size, and more - implementing them presents designers and engineers with substantial challenges. Driving MEMS speakers requires entirely new approaches, which have hindered their adoption in the audiophile space. We will outline the complexities and obstacles of implementing and tuning MEMS speakers for real-world products; examine early attempts at implementing MEMS drivers in audiophile applications; and explore the remaining challenges that confront designers and engineers, as we strive to deliver on the promising potential of MEMS technology.
SPEAKER: Hieu Trung Tran, CEO & Lead Engineer, Soranik Hearing Co., Ltd

The Original Katong Laksa, if you like to search it up is Janggut Laksa as of now.
There has been a few stores that have popped up that claim otherwise but this video gives some insight into it.
You can try their Roxy Square or Queensway location.

Why my kids were young. They had tuition in that area. I crawled around that area and tried what might be a good chunk if not all the Katong Laksa. I do prefer the Roxy Square one. My personal all time favourite is Sungei Road laksa. Not so lemak.
