Has anybody else experienced a positive difference in SQ when running a device through Urd as DDC? Yeah, I know, it shouldn't make any difference.
I've heard positive differences from DDCs back in the day I had some around, not that surprised. S/PDIF and AES3 are synchronous, so source clock can make a difference. And so can effective electrical designs that reduce electrical noise leakage into the DAC.

Urd is the first Unison Out device so Im sure it would be beneficial. Many of us are hoping for a Schiit DDC to fill that use case w/o having to drop $1200. I dont use CDs anymore.

Lol! Yeah, me either. I have enough I can find to worry about with a pivoted tonearm. 🤣

Audio enjoyment can be a wholistic experience involving all the senses. For some people, visual aesthetics and order are as important as acoustic performance. For others (me) not so much.
Absolutely!

Last week I had the privilege to hear a 7.1.4 dolby atmos set-up with from the root mixed/mastered object based music content. And that was an absolute stunning experience (highlight: Dune2 soundtrack but also Genesis from Anyma was great). When well done it really adds to the experience - also, with so many speakers in room (was a dark studio space), I'd like all was neat and tidy with a homey light plan but gear nicely visible.

37-42 years ago.... Remember it like yesterday, too bad I can't remember what I get up to get something 75% of the time these days...

One day soon I'm going to look at my rig, and say 'what's that?'
Too true.

I run a 7.2 system but I may go smaller in the near future, repairing my receiver twice is enough for me. I hope to simplify. Women have a tendency to live longer than men so I would want to leave my wife a less complicated system. My son will get my audio gear and he will figure it out.😉

I definitely want to check out the Kraken, and I will have another look at SYN. I do not mind solid state for TV and it is a little late in the game to teach my wife about tubes.😁 I would be happy to hear any thoughts on Syn from those of you who use one.

I have a Martin Logan sound bar in another room and it serves its purpose in a smaller TV setup.
