I've been playing Invention of Knowledge (2016) by Anderson / Stolt for the past hour and it's not bad, still got Anderson's nonsensical lyrics but it sounds good. It's a collab between Jon Anderson (Yes) and Roine Stolt (The Flower Kings) along with Jonas Reingold on bass and even has Daniel Gildenlow helping with the backing vocals. I didn't even know this existed until I saw a post on facebook tonight - it has it's uses

I'm liking this, the variety of different textures on the guitar adds a lot of interest - to me at least. Now Playing:

Using Road Salt One by Pain of Salvation as a seed, I went on a roon radio safari this evening and discovered a French prog-rock/metal band I've never heard of and took an instant liking to. They are called Klone and the album is Meanwhile and yes, the vocals are in English. They have ten albums on Qobuz so I have a lot of listening to do.

I just discovered this awesome Polish musician today! Turns out it's not really a band, since the guy plays all the instruments.
Results of tonight's roon safari are an Australian prog-metal band called Teramaze and the album I am currently listening to is Dalla Volta from 2023. They have albums going back to 1995 and have been quite busy with eleven of them on Qobuz. There is a "bit" of harsh vocals on the first track but for the most part it's not a problem and I'm "sensitive"

I like that they look back at some of their older material so this makes me pretty excited for the new Dream Theater album.

Yeah, watched the video last night. Pretty pumped for the new DT. Hoping they're getting back to their heavier side with Portnoy back. Right now, I've got Train Of Thought blasting on my Atrium, really digging the intensity and guitar crunch.

This Dying Soul and Stream of Consciousness are absolute gems. I haven't actually heard this album on Atrium until now. The guitar and the drumming... insane.

After just one spin, I can already tell I'm gonna dig this album!

Currently jamming to:
I've been listening to the albums of Returned to the Earth, a crossover prog band from the UK for the last way too many hours, so I guess I must like them. Annoyingly their most recent (2nd of 2023) album isn't on Qobuz but there are four others that are and those are what I've been listening to. I'm currently playing Fall of the Watcher (2023) and it's a very polished listen, there are hints of early Porcupine Tree and IQ in the mix but not too much, they have their own sound.
