So I thought it would be nice building a cable for my hd650s. This is not for SQ reasons, but aesthetic reasons.

I would like a green(or yellow) cable with stylish plugs. I live in the eu so I guess that is a setback. I would also prefer not to spend too much here as it's just for fun really.

So where do I begin any part suggestions?

- Mogami 2534 (thick 6mm) or 2893 (thinner 4.8mm) StarQuad bulk cable (comes in many colors)
- Neutrik REAN 1/4" or 1/8" Nickle plated or Gold plated plug

For a more pricey plug, I prefer Furutech FP-704 1/4" plugs.

Cardas has the HD650's termination plugs.

For good cable (but expensive cable), get SilverDragon V3 and use a Furutech FP-704 plug.

Here's some other cool-looking plugs as well.

Ok I found the cardas terminations on ebay for around 20euros(Kind of expensive imo, but it seems I have no choice) http://cgi.benl.ebay.be/Cardas-HPSC-Sennheiser-headphone-connectors-pair-/300602711405?pt=UK_AudioVisualElectronics_HomeAudioHiFi_Headphones&hash=item45fd515d6d#ht_1629wt_1139

So I will buy those or are there other brands that sell them?

As for all the cable and plugs you mentioned I can't seem to find them. For the plug getting one from here http://www.audiospares.com/home.php?cat=754 would be okay right?

As for the cable itself I was thinking how do I Y-split it at the end? Or should I go with 2 of these cables( http://www.audiospares.com/product.php?productid=1981&cat=32&page=2) running along side each other like with the original hd650 cable?

Also do you have any other recommended websites that will ship to belgium for a reasonable price? I guess UK shops are my best option here.

Thanks

Hi, I'm very intrested in how you progress with your build as I'd love to build a cable for my own 650's ... the termintion connectors were the only part putting me off, now I know these can be bought all is good   :xf_eek:)

Looking forward to seeing some pics as you progress ...

http://www.maplin.co.uk/snap-lock-automotive-cable-connectors-1073 I looked at these snap-lock connectors [removing the insides first] to help form a good Y-joint in the cable; also looked at Hose Separators, but its getting one of small enough diameter to properly clamp the cable...

Looking through the cable build gallery, most seem to favour some form of quad core cable like Mogami Neglex Quad (2534), I like the look of Van Damme's Blue Series up-ofc multicore ... with most of these you should be able to just cut & peal back the outer sheath to the point you want to form the split.

If you use two seperate cables and twist them together, then you could use heatshrink, techflex [both are microphonic] or a cotton outer sheath to help hold the cables together upto the split...
