New FiiO M11S Player with dual ES9038Q2M DACs, 670mW output power and 14 hours of battery life

Thanks for your help.
It's already working perfectly.

So if I buy a Fiio K7 I will be able to use it as my DAC/AMP and the M11S will only work as source correct?

Through USB you will use the M11S as a source (music playback, transport, streamer).

Another option is to connect the M11S to a dedicated amplifier via the 3.5mm, 2.5mm or 4.4mm outputs in "line out" mode. This way the DAC from the M11S will be used. In this case, you would use, for example, a 3.5mm to RCA cable.
Dear friends,

And the M11S also has coaxial output. So the coaxial connection with K7 is also supported.

Best regards

Dear friend,
We could not tell the exact time currently. And did you send the log to us(support@fiio.com) or upload the log file in the feedback page of M11S?
Best regards

@FiiO , I just sent you an email with the FiiO M11S log. Waiting for the engineers' analysis.

@FiiO , is there any forecast for the release of a new firmware update for the FiiO M11S? On September 9th, I sent the email with the requested files with the log to investigate and correct the FiiO Music app crash error. Today (September 15th) I had a crash problem with the Tidal app.

Dear friend,

We could not promise the time of the new firmware currently. As for the crash problem, we will update to you when we get futher update from the engineers.

Best regards

Hello @FiiO I own the M11S as well the Hiby R5 GEN 2 DAP which has lower power on all gains and outputs, which on the highest gain is 3.9 Vrms, 475mW @32 ohms on class A on the balanced outputs compared to the M11S highest gain on the balanced outputs of 670mW but the Hiby R5 GEN 2 sounds a lot louder on all gains and all outputs compared to the M11S which has almost double the power and sounds a lot quieter, My Sennheiser HD 660's gets more volume out of the Hiby R5 GEN 2, I really like the M11S as it's very fast and responsive to use plus I love the screen compared to the dimmer Hiby R5 GEN 2, I was wondering if you will update it to get more volume out of it, especially on the balanced outputs, thank you.

Dear friend,
You could not compare the output volume according to the output power parameter/
First of all, for different players/DAC, when connecting to the same headphones and playing the same song, the same output volume is depended on:

1, The difference in gain
Depending on the DAC and output power, the gain of each player/DAC is not the same. Some devices only have two gain option while some device like M17 has 5 gains option.
Different gain options could help users to choose the appropriate sound pressure for themselves better.

2, The difference in volume level
According to the different DAC and volume control circuits, as well as different design orientations, each player/DAC's volume range is not consistent. Some may be 0 ~ 60, some are 0 ~ 80, or 0 ~ 100, 0 ~ 120. Overall there is no way to unify into a fixed range such as 0 ~ 100.

So, different players/DACs, even the same brand, the amplification value of each gain and the output of each volume level are not uniform. For example, the M17 which has five gains and larage adjustment range, will provide lower output volume when connecting to the same headphone in volume 20, low gain comparing with the other device which has lower output level.

But we will still try to report your feedback to the product manager.
Best regards

@FiiO Yes definitely I understand that, I looked up all the power outputs on both the Fiio M11S and the Hiby R5 GEN 2 on both players and all gain settings and compared them with one another on the Sennheiser HD 660s headphones which uses a balanced 4.4mm connection, I used the Poweramp application for my music with the same gain settings on both players and at full volume, the Hiby sounded louder, I first used on both players low gain, then medium and then high on both players at full volume on both players with the same balanced 4.4 output for the Sennheiser HD 660s and the Hiby with lower output power sounded louder on the same Poweramp application, both players have the same music files, I don't understand how the Hiby on low, medium and high gain sounds louder compared to the M11S low, medium and high gain which the M11S has a higher output power, I did this testing both on balanced 4.4mm outputs on both players, I also have a single ended 3.5mm headphone which is the Sennheiser HD 599 and did my testing with that as well, I made sure to use the same gain settings on both players at full volume and on the same Poweramp application, the Fiio M11S is supposed to be way more powerful which is why I purchased it for my Sennheiser HD 660s but I get less volume and I don't understand why, I do love the screen and the user experience but I just wish the M11S was louder, thank you for the feedback, I really appreciate it.

Hello everyone, I see everyone here discussing a lot points but no one is really discussing the sound impressions of this device. So how does M11s sound to yal, bright/thin (typical Fiio tuning) or warm and musical like some people are saying? I prefer a natural musical sound rather than a bright one with some digital glare present.

Given the track skipping issues and what not is this a safe device to buy now? Also as pointed out by @megathrash that Hiby R5 Gen 2 on Class A sounds louder than Fiio M11s is quite concerning to me. Would love to get some insight from all of you here. TIA!

I don't believe in the "sound" of a DAP...
unless the integrated amplifier doesn't match the headphones used, a DAP sounds transparent.

That answer your question?

@FiiO The "eXtream Software Development" forum says that the FiiO M11S does not have native support for the USB Audio Player Pro (UAPP) app. Is this correct?

Thread link where this is said: https://www.extreamsd.com/forum/thread-1475.html

Note: eXtream Software Development is the developer of UAPP.

Here it also works perfectly. That's why I found this statement on the UAPP developer forum strange. Now I'm trying to find out what FiiO has to say about it.
