HiFi Rose RS150B (DAC & Streamer) vs RS130 (Streamer only)
Mar 3, 2024 at 10:37 AM Post #61 of 80
I'm seriously thinking about getting a RS130. My DAC is a T+A DAC 200 - anyone heard that combination?
For the T+A I would (if SQ stays on the first place) prefer as streamer a NAA client like the Holo Audio Red, which is able to send native DSD1024 to the DAC.
The RS 130 will output DoP and can't use together with HQPlayer as NAA client.

Burkhardt is right. I went from a holo audio red and it does have NAA client capabilities but in my setup I have the DAC200 connected to USB directly from my Roon/PC and then the 2nd USB port connected directly to the RS130. I did a lot of comparisons between the two streamers and even though they sounded different from each other (both are excellent)I liked the presentation the RS130 gives me with the screen and being able to connect to my TV and play Youtube videos. In roon I can only upsample to DSD256. If I choose DSD512 I do not get sound to the RS130. I love my RS130.

Hopefully they will add NAA compatibly.

Of you can add NAA via a UP board.

Thanks @Burkhardt, @NEXTLEVEL5 and @Psilonaught for your replies. I’ve actually got a Holo Red which I’ve been using with the DAC200 but I was going to move it to my Ferrum Wandla/ OOR/ Hypsos Headphone setup and use the RS130 with the DAC200. Maybe I’ll just get another Red then! Never managed to stream DSD1024, can only get to 512 with HQPlayer and Red as NAA client. As a Mac user Roon is limited to DSD256 via DoP.

Can’t comment on your DAC but I’ve been extremely happy with the RS130 with my Chord Dave for the last 6 months. Brilliant piece of kit

So what was your findings on SQ between these streamers? Please tell!
Has anyone tried the Gold Note EVO or Plus?

I prefer my wifi6 router to ethernet, have you tried WiFi6?

Tried it briefly along with standard cat6 Ethernet cable and the fibre connection kit. Of all 3 the fibre connection with separate linear power supply was superior in performance in my chain.

The other issue is I wasn’t really a fan of the big WiFi antenna.
