Right now, at home these past few days, the frankly astonishingly good AKG K400. Acquired recently and I’m still blown away by how good these are.
Outside on-the-go, another that has amazed with its sound quality - the Harmon Karon CL. I’ve got some pretty great cans for when I’m out (B&O H6, KEF M500 ....) but these have impressed me the most. Amazing sound, great build and for me at least, very good comfort. I got this pair brand new sealed for £50 from you know where, and I’m so taken with them that when I saw another pair sealed in white, I went for them as well. This pair may well show wear ‘n tear over time so ..... although saying that, the other day when out walking home fast the steel head band got caught on an overhanging branch and they were torn off my head with some force and landed six feet behind me on concrete. Not a mark to be seen anywhere.

Beyer Amiron home and Audio-quest Nighthawk most of the time. When I want to relax and fall to sleep to music, I use the Senn hd 650.

HE-560’s at the moment.

I am on my second pair of HD-560. Wish I had never ever sold the first! Got a killer deal on a brand new pair (well, great deal at that time) and I will never let them go.

But, they are NOT my current listen. The Audeze LCD-X plus my Icon Audio HP8-MKII running a pair of Tung Sol VT-99 is so sublime the HD-560 are my backup pair in case anything happens :)

I've not heard the MDR-Z1R yet but I have to say, I do like the understated, solid look of this headphone. Not that appearance matters much for a headphone (not at all for their performance of course) but I like eye candy. :)

While on my head I brushed it against a wood table and the headphone came out without a scratch? So maybe the wire mesh is something good?
