The cable I was using was included in the K7 box, but the usb to usb connector was from I don't know where, I found it in the 3 drawers down misc section on the desk. I'll look into settings on the phone output

Same cable used to connect to computer with no troubles, though I'm not using the usb connector, just normal usb into the side of the laptop

Maybe it is the compatibility problem with the USB adapter? You could check other OTG cable for help.

Why does it matter that you feed the K7 with an unbalanced source connection and then listen via the balanced headphone output? Am I missing something here?

I have not heard the K11 with the CS DAC. I am partial to the AKM DACs, and I am very happy with the K7 for the headphones I use.

Does anyone know if the knob delay issue was ever fixed in newer units? I have both a red and a black unit and the red unit (which was released later) seems to have a noticeable delay when turning the knob but the black unit is near instantaneous.

I don't think so, some even say it was intentional so you don't blow things up especially when switching outputs. I am thinking of picking one up myself to upgrade my fiio k3 but I enjoy adjusting my volume a lot so maybe I am best off just ordering an AMP for now..

On their site Fiio says that the delay is because the processor doesnt immediately react to the position of the digital potentiometer. But I A/B tested both my units multiple times and the red one has a clear delay while the black one is near instantaneous so I am not sure whats going on here.

Hm strange Fiio claims that they are exactly the same minus the color. Just curious how much does the delay bother you? Is it almost a deal breaker or just a slight annoyance? I was thinking of picking up the K7 but now I might just get the K11 or a dedicated AMP.

I wouldnt say its a dealbreaker but it was immediately noticeable when I plugged it in. I really like the color of the Red K7 but I will probably keep the Black one simply because it doesn't have any delay.
