FiiO 2023 New Product Schedule
Feb 14, 2023 at 2:44 PM Post #18 of 497
I understand that the equipment is aging, the batteries in them, the casings break quickly, but are these planned changes not a bit insignificant. Isn't FIIO cannibalizing its own products? I am watching the sale of new M11Plus or M11s in my country, they are practically not selling, who will buy these models now after the information that in a few months they can buy a newer one, and whoever has it will change it to M23?
Isn't it like with smartphones, new models of well-known companies 12-13-14, 21-22-23 are practically the same, basic functions still work flawlessly, maybe the photos are a little better but not as good as large digital cameras.
Isn't this the peak of saturation of the market with such electronics?

I'm looking at picking up a Q7 soon - i'm assuming there's no plans to upgrade that in 2023 since it's not been on market real long.

I've had my M11 Pro for a couple years now and love it - was looking at upgrading to the M17 but I still like having a smaller device that will fit in my pocket, I just want some more power for when i'm using my ZMF's - so I think a Q7 will be my best bet.
Dear friend,

Yes, there will not be successor for Q7 this year.

Best regards

No new product scheduled this year to replace the UTWS5? :sob:
Dear friend,

There will be replacement model for UTWS5. But if you are using the UTWS5, you don't need to wait and update for it actually. For more information about this model, we will share in the later chapter.

Best regards

(2) HiFi headphone DAC/Amps preview and existing product information

The success of FiiO's business cannot be separated from a little bit of luck. If it wasn't for the inconspicuous lighter-sized portable headphone amplifiers, whether FiiO would survive would be unknown. So we have a special relationship with portable headphone amplifiers, and they are also our leading actors all the time. In 2023, we will launch three new products, Q11, Q13 and Q15.

1. Q11, expected to be available in March
The Q11 is the iterated model of the Q1MKII and the fifth generation of FiiO's portable DAC/Amps. It can even be tacked back to the E7 released in 2011, and the following E07K, Q1 and Q1MKII.

The Q11 is also affordable as the previous models. Compared to the Q1MKII, its main audio performance has been improved, especially the 660mW output power. It is totally different from USB dongles which are powered by mobile phones, since it comes with a built-in battery, so it will not consume power of the phone. The DAC uses the flagship CS43198 from CIRRUS LOGIC, with soft and attractive sound quality, winning unanimous praise from netizens in a Japan headphone exhibition.

2. Q13, expected to be available in winter
The Q13 is planned to replace the Q3 released 3 years ago. It is still in the planning stage, so features and specifications have not been finalized. The main differences will be the improved output power and appearance change. The Q11/Q13 will be an appropriate choice for users to upgrade their dongles, which are designed to use with mobile phones.

3. Q15, expected to be available in winter
The Q15 is developed to fill the gap in the product line after the discontinuation of the Q5S. Many of our old users kept asking us for an upgraded model. We were unable to do anything due to the chip supply shortage at that time. The Q15 will be a more powerful model in terms of performance and features, and will have a greater improvement in specifications, design, and functionality than the Q5S.

Like the Q5S, the Q15 also supports Bluetooth reception, so there are more ways to play with and more devices to connect with. And it is also designed with the widely acclaimed DC mode, and has an additional high-definition display screen than the Q5S. The device-user interaction has been greatly improved.

4. Q7

The Q7 will still be the flagship model of FiiO's portable DAC/Amp line in these 2 years. As an affordable alternative model of the M17, it is a very good choice for users with less budget and who mainly use it with their mobile phones. At present, it is still a unique existence in the portable DAC/Amp market thanks to the high power output under the enhanced over-ear headphone mode, complete input/output ports, as well as the DC mode.

After the Q11/13/15 are all released, we plan to stop upgrading portable DAC/Amps for a year (except for some tiny changes due to chip discontinuation). After all, portable DAC/Amps are not very hot products with relatively stable technology/function developments. Besides, these four models mentioned above with different positioning are enough to meet most needs of the consumers.

(3) HiFi portable DAC/Amps preview and existing product information

Desktop headphone DAC/Amps are a new product line developed by FiiO in the past few years, and it has been well received by many users. It has encouraged us to explore more and learn what users need on a desktop. The R7 is a good result with great innovation, which has been so popular on the market.

We also released the K9 Pro ESS, K7 and K9 last year thanks to our previous great investment in this product line. So this year, we only have the K7 BT that is in the works. Whether there will be other new products is still to be confirmed.

1. K7 BT

The K7 is a relatively successful model released by FiiO in 2022. To sum up, it's a DAC/Amp with a real balanced output yet at a price of under 200 USD, while many DAC/Amps coming with a 4.4mm output are actually single-ended output ones. Together with the compact and exquisite design, RGB indicator light, convenient switching between headphones and speakers, it is adored and praised by consumers.

Of course, with the popularity of mobile phones and the development of Bluetooth audio formats, it is kind of pity for a product without support for Bluetooth. Whether should we take more considerations on connections with computers, or connections with mobile phones through Bluetooth? To be honest, we don't have the answer ourselves.

Therefore, we are planning to release the Bluetooth version of the K7, the K7 BT in June, for users who need Bluetooth input. All in all, the K7 BT mainly differs from the K7 with an additional Bluetooth receiving function. Other designs, configurations and appearance are the same.

2. E10K

We have introduced the E10K many times before. In a word, it is a long-lived model with brilliant sound performance and an affordable price. That's why it can survive on the market for 10 years. We have no idea whether this veteran is still excellent enough to meet users' needs in the future. Several years ago, we released an upgraded version, the K3. However, it didn't take the place of the E10K. It is still a hot product especially in the foreign market. Therefore, we have no plans to discontinue it yet.

3. K3

The K3 is an upgraded model based on the E10K released several years ago. In addition to the added balanced headphone output circuit and connector which supports more music formats with higher sampling rates, it also has a more attractive and delicate appearance design. But due to the increased costs, the price of the K3 has also increased obviously compared to the E10K. It ended up that the K3 failed to complete its mission of extending the life of the E10K.

Although the K3 did not replace the E10K, it is still an excellent desktop small DAC/Amp, especially when connected to a laptop or placed in a small desktop with headphones that required relatively low output power.

2.jpg

4. K5 Pro

The K5 Pro is also a popular model in the past few years, and has been in short supply for two years. It has an appropriate size, simple yet practical functions, high output power as well as an affordable price. Although there is no particular excellence, it is very good in every aspect.

I personally think that the K5 Pro is a product with practical qualities and performance that every user would need.
3.jpg

5. K7

As mentioned above, the K7 is a terribly practical product. It is highly expected to be another hot-selling and long-lived product like the K5 Pro.

4.jpg

6. K9

The K9 is a DAC/Amp released in January 2023. We did not make much publicity. Actually, the K9/K9 Pro was planned together and should have been released in 2021. However, due to the semiconductor supply shortage, the AKM fire, and the pandemic influence, the K9 project was delayed.

Eventually, it came to birth after over a year. The K9 and K9 Pro are the same model in high and low configurations. The main difference lies in the DAC. The K9 Pro uses the flagship ES9038PRO DAC from ESS at that time while the K9 uses the sub-flagship ES9068AS DAC.

This is actually a marketing idea the same as that in the mobile phone and computer industry- to meet the needs of consumers with different budgets through different configurations.

It can be said that the K9 Pro is a very competitive product in the price range within 700 USD, with high output power, complete functions, solid workmanship as well as carefully selected materials.

5.jpg

7. K9 Pro

The K9 Pro is also a product beyond our expectations. We previously planned to use the AK4499 DAC. However, the AKM fire accident caused serious supply shortage of the AK4499 chip. We then replaced it with the ESS9038 Pro. In the middle of the process, the MCU and power supply chip shortage also forced us to redesign many audio circuits.

In general, as a flagship product, the K9 Pro has helped us to explore a new path, so we are more confident to invest more in researching and developing desktop audio devices.

We would also like to express our great gratitude to users who support the K9 Pro.

6.jpg

These are all the details of our desktop DAC/Amp product line. There are not many new products, mainly because we still have many new ideas that are waiting for market feedback, and then make some adjustments. All in all, we are striving to provide you with more and better high-quality products with a new look in the future.
