Well I tried, and the same deal, file not found.  Now all I can think of doing is sending it in to fiio to undo the damage.  Can you point me in the right direction to get a repair under the warranty?  Sorry Ive been so persistent.  Ive been really anxious since it started bugging out.

Did you flash any x5.fw successfully before you got to this point--are you sure it's the X5's update mechanism that's borked? Nothing personal, just that it would be great for you to be able to fix it on your end rather than sending it in to us, because that's going to leave you without the X5 for 1-2 months. :xf_eek:

In brief:
1. Make sure your X5 is fully charged.
2. Make sure your card is formatted in FAT32 (if you had a card that was formatted by the X5 before this happened, that would be great to use)
3. Extract the x5.fw file from the zip and place that in the root folder of the card (i.e. not inside any subfolder)
4. Hold the upper left button of the X keygroup and then press the power button until the update screen comes up.

If that doesn't work, you may also try poking the reset hole while holding the upper left button.

In the same vein, we may consider sending you other utilities to try to recover from the fault at your end if you're willing to try your hand at a little hacking.

Best regards,
Joe

Well I tried it,  I tried it twice, and still it tells me update file not found.  These utilities you mentioned if I do use them to try to fix it will I have any idea what Im doing or will somebody walk me through these recovery softwares, and lastly do they void the warranty.

Honestly I can wait two months for a scheduled repair I just want it done right.  I don't want to accidentally make it worse using external softwares editing codes that make no sense to me.  Anyways I use a mac Im not cut out for that stuff.

Hello francisco,

You may request a warranty repair with your amazon seller, and send your X5 to them for forwarding to the distributor and from there to China. You may also ask them for the distributor's contact and deal with them / send to them directly. The above assumes you are in the US or bought from a local amazon seller.

If you want the X5 to reach us more quickly, or if your amazon seller is outside your country (in which case you would have to mail internationally anyway), you may mail it directly to us after contacting support@fiio.net .

Do make sure to mail it in suitably protective packaging

Hope that helps!

Best regards,
Joe

Hi guys.
I just asked this question on other topic and a friend suggest me to ask it here.
I just bought my x5 three days ago. X5 shut downed twice suddenly during playing my flac files.
I have a 16gb class 10 sd formatted by my x5.

Do you have any suggestion?

Sorry for the delay--what firmware version are you running?

Best regards,

Hi,

I was wondering whether the X3 II is compatible with OTG-Sticks?
A customer from us tried, and first it works. But now the Fiio says "no music". May you have a hint for us. With the "normal" OTG cables for smartphone it works.

Thanks for your reply.

Hello seller,

It is not an official feature, but the X3 2nd gen will work with the "right" OTG cables and drives. If it was working with the same drive before, try changing the cable.

Also, he needs to search for music on the OTG drive using "browse files" rather than "play by category" since OTG drives are not scanned into the X3's songs database.

Best regards,
Joe

Hopefully there will at some point be the option to be able to scan the OTG media to library. I have mentioned this a few times. It is a great feature of the x3 2nd gen, the USB OTG. Just wish it was integrated into the library.

Hopefully you guys are looking into this. Thanks Joe.
