Hi,

I have several FiiO items. I'm mostly happy with them. Two issues:

1. My x5ii does not show the correct bit depth in USB DAC mode. I understand this is a known issue, but when will it be fixed?

2. My x5ii is recognized and works fine except for the issue above. But my new FiiO X3 Mark III is not recognized by a very recent Linux kernel 4.14.18. This is annoying because I can't use it with my K5, which is the reason I bought it.

Thanks.
Dear friend,

1.The X5II always shows the output bit depth as 24bits, even when the song itself is 16 bit. This is because the data is padded to 24bits before sending to the internal DAC and is a known issue. We will not changed that.

2. The X3MKIII can not be recognized in DAC or storage mode?

Best regards

Hello

I just bought a X7ii, and all is working well except my OTG storage. I am using the same Integral SSD and cables that I was using for OTG on my Gen 1 X5, but playing files from the OTG on the X7ii playback stutters badly, where it was fine on the X5. It happens when I use Fiio music, Neutron and Gonemad, so It's not a software issue, and I'm pretty sure it's not the SSD / cables as thye still work perfectly on the X5. Any ideas - faulty amp module?
Both my SD cards and the OTG SSD are formatted FAT32.

I also find that every time I attach the X7ii to my PC it tells me the SD and OTG cards need to be scanned and fixed, which never used to happen with the X5 either.

Can you help?
Dear friend,

What's the firmware version of your X7MKII? Can the music files in your SSD be played fine when putting in the SD cards or internal storage instead?

Are you selecting the media library update to auto instead of manual?

Best regards

Thanks for the reply

The library update is manual. Not using Viper.

The music files all played ok on my old X5 gen 1, so pretty sure it's not the files.

Is this the firmware version? I installed the update when prompted.

Kernel version 3.0.101+
Build 1.0.5

I took a backup of the SSD contents and then reformatted the SSD and copied about 20gb of files back on. It worked fine so I copied the rest (total about 400gb with 14000 songs) and now it's skipping again.

Even when scanning the database the track numbers freeze quite often and then start increasing again. As it behaved OK when I had a small amount of files on the SSD, the problem appears to be related to the large number of files on the SSD.

Over the weekend i tried various other memory cards and even an old spinning hard drive via otg and they all played perfectly. Is there some compatability issue with the Integral - it has a Phison controller chip which was one of the very few which would play Ok on the x5, but not so good with the X7ii it seems.

Dear friend,

Maybe it would be beacuse of the different operation system. We would still report to the engineer and try to improve that.

If #1 is a known issue, maybe you should change it. It is misleading. I mean it's fine if you upsample but displaying wrong info about the input is wrong and should be fixed. So far I have an X5II, an X3III, a K5. If you guys continue your trend of abandoning old products there is not much reason for us to continue buying your new ones. I realize the pinhead accountants don't think that way, but people who buy products do.

The X3III is not recognized in DAC mode by Linux with a bleeding edge kernel. And not by MacOS either. These are known issues according to FiiO staff posts on the FiiO forum. For a long time. It seems bogus to put out a DAP knowing it supports 1 out of 3 common desktop OS. I'm getting a little tired of beta-testing your stuff. So unless the attitude and support improves dramatically I'm not recommending them and will be looking into other portable products in the future.

New x7 mark ii owner here.
It seems that the x7 cannot make a usb connection with my ubuntu/linux PC.
It works ok with a borrowed windows PC but I cannot get a connection to any of my ubuntu machines (xenial or bionic).
The problem is with both internal storage and microSD storage.
Is there a workaround for this?
Help please!

Dear friend,

Are the USB ports in your ubuntu/linux PC the USB3.0 or 2.0 one instead? Did you try another usb cable and ports as well? The DAC function could not work as well?

Best regards

They are usb3.0 ports.
Would a usb2.0 hub in between be a solution?

Hi!

Two questions please!

1) I have a Fiio M9. The LDAC Bluetooth at its highest quality skips when connected to WiFi is there a fix for this I am on OS 1.0.2

2) Using Qobuz - how do I set my external 400gb Micro SD card as the destination for Ofiline Qobuz files (I don't want them going to the internal 2 gig storage (I think they are going to the right place actually)

Thank you
