Was looking towards a UM or Rooth cIEM.

I currently use my Ultimate Ears Triple-Fi 10s for side-sleep.

How do you sleep with music on?

I actually don't listen to music. I listen to ASMR videos on youtube to wind-down before sleep.

But Infoseeker those things are huge! how the hell?!

I actually use these IEMs with the FLIP MOD. Where as you can see here:

They fit snugly along the contour of the ear and don't stick-out. So believe-it-or-not they are just as good as any other IEM for sleeping. They also are very very subtle when you are out in public when worn flip modded; nobody has ever pointed them out to me in awkwardness.

Anyways, I am upgrading and looking towards a custom IEM. And this is my concern of interest I wish answered:

How many drivers can put in my set-up before I start getting a bulging mass of a fetus sticking out of my ears? Which would be counter-productive for comfort and especially side sleep.

On a side-note, I don't want my Triple-fi "V" sound signature. I want something more forgiving and warmer.

If I want to make a dream list, I mind as well ask  for a wider sound stage; and higher resolution detail whilst still forgiving.

By universals you mean to find something like the triple-fi but one that is better fitting?

6 perhaps? The Earsonics SM6 sticks out a fair bit.

Are you sure you need a good quality IEM for this? There are various 'sweatband' headphones for wearing in bed, which might not have any comfort issues.

Well, I mainly wanted some IEMs for isolation in the subway. I just wanted to them to also to have a small footprint that can be practical for sleep too.
