The Tung-sol KT-170 only appears inexpensive. Once you factor in their abysmal quality control, and short life span you can plan on doubling or tripling the cost per tube. It’s a shame the new amp is going to be burdened with this power tube, and it’s single, lackluster manufacturer. Half of every KT-150 I’ve purchased has gone bad in the span of a couple months, or been noisy out of the box, and that tube doesn’t even have the higher demands of the KT-170. Best of luck Soul 170 buyers. That might just be because no premium maker is making KT170s.
You can buy 300Bs for less than the KT170s from other New Sensor Co brands as well as various Chinese brands.
It’s the WE, Japanese, and NOS 300Bs that bring big money.
The KT170 is a new tube, so no NOS options out there.

There are a number of KT170 powered amps already out in the wild so it would be interesting to hear if they have suffered the problems you mention. Also it would be very unlike Cayin to have not done its due dilligence on these valves. In any event I'd like to read some reviews of this versus the HA300 and then hear one for myself. The Tung-sol KT-170 only appears inexpensive. I learned that they’ll be demoing it with the Susvara. They are going to be using the Danacables Voila cable too. It’s a great cable. If you wanna try it out, this is a great place to do it. It’s well worth a listen.
It's gonna be a at the High-End show in Munich. Hall 4, booth V14/W15

Not really related to this new headamp.
However besides N30LE Cayin released their 30th Anniversary Pearl series. We already knew about the KT170 based Speakeramp but to this years High End they will also release the Pearl DAC and CD Transport
These will be priced far out of reach for Me, but I'm digging the Design
Here the link to the official Website:

I wonder how much the price for US folks will be and wether the german distributor is ripping people off again with those devices

Just received the first piece of Munich show promotion artwork when the Zhuhai team resume office after the Labour Day break.
We have shipped the sample to our Germany dealer, and Cayin will send a small team of engineers and sales staff to manage our booth in Munich High End, we are only days away from unveil the 170HA, please stay tuned.
Stay updated on Cayin at their sponsor profile on Head-Fi.
