I'm looking forward to learning more about the iDAC-8. Tube buffer sounds interesting. I'm curious about pricing as well, I do hope USB and coax don't sound significantly worse than I2S. I mean, I get why it's usually the best, but the pinouts are such a pain to configure if it can be done at all.
Very interested in the iDAP-8 but I have a few questions:
1. Will it support Spotify Connect / Tidal Connect and similar features? I had the iDAP-6 and I liked it, but I could never get Spotify Connect to work properly. If the iDAP-8 supports it I can definitely see it replacing my Bluesound NODE.
2. Will the song library limit be increased from the 30,000 of the iDAP-6?
So if this dac has tube buffers, will the dac have a warmer/smoother tonality like r2r dacs? Also will the tubes be standard size and be replaceable? How long will the stock tubes on a dac last?
Honestly I would have preferred an implementation deriving from the splendid N7... let's say a desktop N7 rather than based on the now abused AK4499EX. Basically I would have preferred an iDAC-7.
