When I have power outages, I get an electric shock through my HD-650s which are plugged into my computer going through a decent, but low-end pre-amp. The shocks are painful and I was seeing flashes of white light in the room for a few minutes (maybe it was my monitor, even though it was turned off...)
I also have the CXA81 and a Schiit Audio Valhalla 2 (which connects to my computer via bluetooth) but I never used them during a power outage.
Am I safer connecting to my Schiit/CXA81?
How do I prevent this from happening in general? Is ESD involved? Could this be a sign that the HD-650s are damaged?
Everything is carpeted here and there is often some static. But I'm not sure getting rid of that would prevent the vicious shock I get during outages.
