AUDEZE LCD XC

Every time i have the bug to buy a new closed back (looking at you liric II) i put back on the XC and just stop!
Wish they would make a hardcase for them so i could bring them around during travel more easily.
That is the case for me as well. I think if the Caldera Closed from ZMF is a generous step up from the XC I may consider getting it. 😎

Maybe the Steath, but i also have the LCD5, and the only real reason to get th stealth would be portability in travels. Or just try an IEM like the XE6 or RN6

Ok so a few thoughts.

I had a chance to sit down with them a little bit tonight. Right now I have three EQ settings that I’m running. For a source I’m running HQ Audio from Spotify.

Un-Eqed: Sounds a little bright but it’s not unbearable.

EQ Setting 1: Hard to describe it seems a little flimsy.

EQ Setting 2: Definitely punchier in the bass region but veiled compared to Un-Equed.

EQ Setting 3: This seems to be the worse of the three.

Next steps: Once I get some more time I’m going to recheck my settings. I think the issue is with how I put them in. I’ll try to post screen shots tomorrow night.

Try your setting two and get the upper frequencies to where you want it. Or start with the EQ flat and just boost mid-bass, bass and sub-bass regions. Do this slowly while listening. Could take several adjustments to get it like you want it. All of our system components and ancillary parts are different. Our tastes will be different. You will have to fine tune for you.

Will do. I’m getting the feeling that the LCD-XCs are like a tailored suit.

Exactly. That is one of the reasons I love the pair I have, once they are tuned or tailored.

I'm enjoying my xc 2021 without eq. Its resolution in bass range is phenomenal. Soooooo clean and clear. Only when I want some relaxed listening I cut 8 to 10khz about 3db

I don’t eq my 2018 LCD-XC either. Never tried it though

I found the issue. For devices I had it set to speakers instead of Headphones. Things sound much clearer now.

Finally got around to ordering a comfort strap from Understated Montéal. Ordered it with 'milk white 37' stitching in buffalo leather. Milk white is a perfect match for the slightly off white AUDEZE font on the headphones which helps it keep an upgraded, but OEM aesthetic.

I did not have any real complaints about the stock strap, but this thing is very nice. It is slightly shorter, so it provides more of a suspension effect, because the strap does not make contact with the carbon fiber headband. Also it is wider to more evenly distribute the weight and has some internal padding for additional cushioning. The build quality is second to none and elevates an already premium looking & feeling headphone to another level. Lastly, it smells great too.

I think this is the best looking headband I’ve ever seen for this headphone. If I may ask. Does it really change the comfort factor by a lot?
The rubber headband on my XC that comes stock is ok, but this looks pretty enticing. Cheers. 😎

Regarding the comfort: Unlike some others, I did not have a real problem with comfort using the stock strap, but I will say the new one is 20% more comfortable because of the extra width and padding. Others who have more of a comfort issue, especially with the weight, may see a bigger benefit. I mainly got this because I loved the premium look/feel and my stock strap was beginning to disintegrate after 3 years of fairly heavy use. Amazingly my earpads still look new, although I do use leather cleaner/conditioner on them regularly.

Ok. Very cool. And yeah I don’t have much issue with the stock rubber strap, but I know it could of course be improved upon. As for the pads? Yeah I’m with ya there. My XC I’ve had for 6 years and it still gets pretty good use and yet the pads are still minted. I’ve not once changed them. I don’t have to. I use maguire’s leather conditioner. It used on cars. Works wonderfully. Once in a while I put just a little bit on. The headphone itself is a bloody tank and looks as good as the day I bought it. No complaints, but again I could like yourself, improve the strap. 😏
