Peachtree Audio Nova High Gloss Black Integrated Stereo Amplifier with Built-in DAC

General Information

It is not often that new milestones in audio are set: The Nova is one of those rare products that fit well into this elite category of firsts.
Nova is the answer if youre looking to improve computer-based streaming audio to a "high-end" performance level; or if you just need a new millennium integrated amplifier. The Nova is a world class 80wpc integrated amplifier with enough digital and analog inputs and outputs to satisfy all the new digital devices, plus, it can handle a few of the old dogs like turntables (w/external phono preamp), tuners, etc.. It performs much like a high-end integrated amplifier because thats what it is.

Whether its digital or analog, the Nova will make it sound great! Along with its little brother, the Decco, theyre truly the most versatile integrated amplifiers on the market and engineered for the way you listen today.

Now all the time, effort, and money youve spent ripping CDs and downloading music is rewarded with truly incredible sound. Even compressed MP3 files sound almost indistinguishable from the original CD when played through the Nova or Decco. So if you like to rip or download...go for it. Well make it sound great.

The Pre-Amp
The pre-amp section employs a 6922 tube with a Class A output stage. This maintains a high level of detail while taming harsh compressed digital music. We couple that with an A/B amplifier in the final stage to achieve a very analog sounding product. The Nova has a USB input for your computer in addition to 2 coax, and 2 optical inputs for other digital sources like Squeezebox®, Apple TV®, Wadia iTransport®, Airport®, Sonos®, and XM or Sirius® tuners. It also has 3 analog inputs for docking stations, CD players, tape decks or phono preamps. If you want to add a subwoofer or outboard amplifier, the Nova features a "Class A" variable preamp-output and a fixed line output. Nova covers all the bases like no other product before it.

100+ Head-Fier
Pros: All in one - Great sound with HD600 - Afordable
Cons: For the price? None
For someone who has had around 7 separate headphone systems the Peachtree audio Nova came as a breath of fresh air. It is a solid all in one solution that delivers audiophile quality sound at good price.

The Nova contains 3 different pieces - It is a DAC, Headphone amplifier, and Integrated amp. The DAC is it's greatest asset. It is a sweet chipset that delivers the sound of a DAC almost as expensive as a the total package.
The Headphone amp in combination with the HD600s were a great match. I have heard on here the headphone amp is similar in quality and signature to a gilmore lite. This must be true because Sennheiser definitely has some sort of synergy with the whole system.

Adding a Black Sand Violet Z1 immediately gave a large gain in transparency and life in the music. This simple set up was so good that trying a variety of other cables - including a Cardas Headphone cable could not improve this setup further.

All in all this was one of the most satisfying setups I have ever come across. The warmth and yet airyness of HD600 was made all the better by the Peachtree Nova. Listening to recordings I could really get the musical message that an artist was conveying. I understood when an artist was just letting their jazz clarinet float and seem to fly free beyond the other instruments. I understood when a bunch of cubans were driving away at their drums - I could feel the sweat and the force in there expression.

The third component of the system was the amplifier for speakers. This was equivalent to an NAD 326BEE I had a while back. Things seemed a little warmer and the soundstage a little deeper compared to the NAD. The NAD perhaps had a little more drive and bass. These are minor - differences though.

Overall this is a great value of a package and can be a killer little all-in-one setup. Just add a RS1 or HD600 and a cable or two and you will be experiencing some audiophilia.
