ZMF BOKEH - Closed Back (Semi-Portable)

Yeah, I think there a few possibilities there. We've got a bunch of these cases now, so it's going to be a long time before we can make changes, but it's definitely something to consider on the next run (which will be a ways off).

That's useful feedback. Thanks for pointing that out.

ZMF Caldera - New Planar Magnetic from ZMF!

Yeah, I'm probably not expressing my opinion well here. I don't think there's anything wrong with comparing the CO and the CC. In fact, that's probably the first comparison I made as well (both listening and measuring). I'm just trying to level set a bit in pointing out that the CC is going...

ZMF Caldera - New Planar Magnetic from ZMF!

Yeah, I think there's no substitute for listening and forming one's own opinion. One thing Zach and I have discussed a lot, is that there seem to be a lot of comparisons of the CC vs the CO. If one is deciding between an open and a closed back planar, then that's a pretty obvious and useful...

    The power tubes referenced above: 6V6, 6L6, EL34, EL37, KT66, KT77, KT88, 6550 all work without adapters. They are all pin-compatible.

ZMF BOKEH - Closed Back (Semi-Portable)

Yeah, it's very close. From our perspective, there are enough times that it won't work that we're not comfortable recommending it, which is why we're looking at other options for the non-Bokehs.

ZMF BOKEH - Closed Back (Semi-Portable)

Unfortunately, this case is strictly for the Bokeh variants. But there may be an option for a different, but similar case for full-size ZMFs in the future.

ZMF Spring Limiteds, CanJam NYC and Estimated Release Schedule for Caldera Closed and BOKEH Open!

Yeah, demoing both is definitely the way to go if you can. That said, If you plan on driving Calderas with the amp, the Aegis is probably the better route. However, if you are only going to drive high-impedance headphones, there is some magic in OTL.

ZMF Spring Limiteds, CanJam NYC and Estimated Release Schedule for Caldera Closed and BOKEH Open!

There are still deals to be had, though. I don't think I've paid over $100 for any of the 5691 pairs I have.

ZMF Caldera - New Planar Magnetic from ZMF!

I will say that I found the Zebrawood Calderas stunning in person when I saw the latest batch in the shop. Now, take that with a grain of salt since I work for ZMF, but of all the headphones there, I found they really worked for me visually.

    ZMF Atrium - new open-back co-flagship

I'm a big fan of Gary Clark Jr. Not only do I love the music that he makes, but he's uses a few guitar pedals that I've made, which is cool.

    Violectric V222 and V202

That was back when I was with Etymotic and Westone Audio. Over the years, one of the combos we used was Chord DACS and Violectric Amps. We often paired the Qutest with the 226 (although we could've used the 222) and the TT2 with the Nimbus or 590. It was way more power than IEMs needed, but I...

I'm a big fan of the Qutest with the V226. We used to use that combo for demoing at CanJams.

    ZMF Aegis Official Thread

Yeah, the black plates are cool. All of the vintage Tung-Sol 6550s are good, but the black plates are getting hard to find/pricey. My second gen black plates with side D getters are one of the few tubes I'll probably never find a backup for. I tend to use my 3-hole 6550s and save these, which...

I'm not sure if you can swap out the strap on your order or if the BBB can only be purchased as an accessory. I would recommend shooting an email to: sales@zmfheadphones.com. They'll be able to give you the definitive answer.

That often seems to be how I feel about Mullard preamp tubes. I've no experience with the ECC35 so they may be different, but with the 9 pin minis I almost always prefer Amperex tubes to Mullards. Power tubes and rectifiers are another story, however.

My only advice for tube rollers (and not you specifically) is not to get too hung up on one type of power tube at first. After spending a lot of time with the Aegis, I think you'll see more drastic differences rolling different power tube types than 47 different varieties of EL34/6CA7. I would...

    The Reference 6SN7 Thread

As long as it's just the plastic and not the glass, the only risk is plugging it in the wrong way. If you have a 3D printer (or a friend with them), there are octal tube saver files online you can download.
