Eric didn't want to open up the Pandara box because it can be dangerous for those that don't understand the limitations.

By modifying the 6J5 socket to 6V6, essentially you can use any pin compatible tubes as 6v6, in the 6j5 sockets but the limitations is in the current that the power supply can deliver to the drivers.

For standard Ultimate using the original power supply, the drivers limit is ~ 1A.

New Ultimates use a slightly bigger power supply and that limit is now increase to 1.5a for drivers.

If you use 5 volt rectifier, it uses a separate filament power supply thereby freeing up all 2.5A for drivers.

Hello,

I've extended my Ez81 stock and today the Ez81 Telefunken arrived.
I bought it on Ebay for 16€.
I plugged it in a few minutes ago after cleaning and it sounds great at first.
As you can see, there's no need to spend a fortune on top-class rectifiers, just be patient:darthsmile::darthsmile::darthsmile::darthsmile::darthsmile::darthsmile:

According to my information, this was made by Mullard for Telefunken, but unfortunately I have not seen a Mullard where this has 4 support posts as in the picture.
Also no code, except the number 15 at the bottom, nothing more.

In the next picture you can see the RFT in comparison so definitely not RFT.

Continue with EL84:
EL84 Mullard and Toshiba both differ noticeably.
The Mullard has clear differences compared to the Toshiba.
Toshiba has stapled plates and no hole in the centre.
The Mullard with yellow print says here that it was probably one of the first mullards.

I don't think the Toshiba was made with Phillips or Valvo tools.
But actually Matsushida probably made them for Toshiba.

Popped down to see StevenV today, brought home 2 pairs of 807, D^D Radiotron JAN 897 Made in Australia and RCA Radiotron Made in USA, cleaned all points of contact and tested, I must say listening to my preferred tracks for this sort of thing I preferred the 807’s Made In USA, a much cleaner sound, Bass more fluid and punchy, slightly more air around the instruments. They look identical but both clearly state country of manufacture? Comments from the knowledge bank welcome.

Adapters for 5B/254M are here. They sound very nice and beautiful with either C3G or 5A/152M, but prefer 5A/152M. They sync better with a wider sound stage. I thought my ears deceived me, so i switched to C3G and 5A/152M 4 times.

I have accomplished my mission of hunting all the exotic tubes for the UltimatE from oversea. I still have many power tubes made in the USA that I have not sampled yet. It is time for me to concentrate on the 300B tubes for my SupremE amp.

The best thing is that you can use all Ultimate drivers in Supreme.

I'm just chilling with 6N6P-N and 6S15P with Mullard EL84 before it goes back to Eric when the next amp is available. That will be the KT150 amp.

EL84 is best suited for Susvara because of the high gain. I had a nightmare last night. I dreamt that I sold off Odyssey and Oblivion and replace it with gEm and Supreme. I also dreamt that I replace Susvara with another TOTL headphone. :relaxed:

3 amps and 3 headphones. I like trifectas.

Hey Matt, what happened to Tomas???

He passed away Feb 2023 at the young age of 40. I do not know the cause of death nor do I have the insensitivity to ask his dad or girlfriend. It's out in the obituary and Sweden's police have confirmed it. He was ill a few months before his passing but he recovered to create his own Telemachus. I know not why such things happen but am thankful that my sojourn on this earth is still ongoing... for now.
