Thanks for the review, great reading.

I concur with your conclusion, got to listen to them at HeadRoom recently, fell instantly in love
But luckily commonsense drew me back in from buying them there and then. Lottery win though and who knows

Nice review. If they weren't an open design, I'd be very interested.

absolute lack of isolation, uncomfortable as hell, cable gets in the way... and mediocre sound probably due to poor fitting even after continuous re-adjustments, I just don't see how these overpriced pieces of scrap metal are worth their asking price.

Waited all this time for a review and it only appears after I got them! I listened to them at headroom too and was speechless because I couldn't find words to describe the sound. Shivers is the right description of what some may feel. Yes it does work best with vocals and I tried attaching a mojo to them too but didn't like it so just straight into whatever source is at hand for me.

Kiats describes the best way to put them in. They just sit in your ears, don't try to force them in and they're not designed to be isolating. Just like you wouldn't say hd800's are bad because they're not isolating

They just sit in your ears alright, if you can ignore the fact that it keeps popping out at the worst of times and the last thing you want is a pair of IEM that expensive and heavy clacking on the table, or worse - concrete/asphalt floor.

I'm pretty sure if you can get a good fit, they might sound great, but not to the point of their ridiculous asking price I would say. Seriously, Final Audio needs to invest some time and effort into ergonomics. I love their Pandora/Sonorous and would argue that they are among the best sounding closed over-ears but they are uncomfortable as hell to wear for more than 5 minutes.

Price, sound and value for money is all relative and everyone has different wants and needs at different levels. Don't expect them to be clinical and produce every single instrument perfectly(as mentioned in the review)and maybe some people will view it differently. If the Chord Dave is supposed to be the next big thing in Dacs at its price does that make Dacs that cost 10 times more a ridiculous price? Everyone hears differently and enjoys sound differently otherwise there will only be one headphone or speaker manufacturer! So it's good that you don't like them and find them expensive otherwise there will be no diversity and I wouldn't have had a chance to listen to and buy them

While I love to own a PF X I am planning to purchase the PF XI, reading this makes me revaluate my decision. For the music i listen to PF is arguably as realistically live sounding as it can get, I know that and I have experienced it first hand but I just cannot get passed the PF X price tag.

@audionwbi I have heard the X and IX side by side>
Believe me there is a great difference in sound signature. BUT in my current situation I too just could not justify the price.
For me it was really the PF X or nothing
But YMMV

I own a pair, I have owned them for a few months. Excellent sound and stunning imaging. They are very comfortable. I hate earphones that provide total isolation, the effect is creepy. The cables are flexible and not microphonic, but they do not have a strain relief so they should be treated delicately.
cjs001's comments that they are "uncomfortable as hell and the cable gets in they way" are total nonsense!
Comments about the price being high are fair.

I heard somewhere exclusive to the X model for some raeson is a notable 'reverb' on the sound, which may not be to all tastes. Can anyone confirm that is the case with the PF X?
