What was involved in replacing the fuse? Did you need to rewire something inside the unit?

Enjoy your writeup, thanks for sharing.
Haven't though of dust caps and 90-degree RCA adapters, nice ideas (my custom power cables are 90-degree terminated which works great here).
I have the same tube combo as I shared in the product thread, with the exception of gain tube where I use RCA 6BQ7A Black Plates "O" getter (1957). It workds great with the output tubes and rectifier you have. I may need to try again the JAN6922 (have a Sylvania 1970s era one somewhere in my inventory).
thanks again!

Nothing beats a Sony Walkman … in our memories

It is actually a battery powered tape machine coupled with a single driver transducer. Sounds fancy

that power cable is looking to rip the amp apart
Good write up.
Good write up.

another con: It takes 9 years to get one. Ok, maybe not 9 years--but 2 years is still hella long

@RONJA MESCO this amp, an upgraded version of Decware’s OTL amp that’s sold by ZMF, is available immediately without waitlist.

I have a Folkvangr with a similar tube set up and less added stuff ... I suspect more power (8 6n6p vs 2 for ZMF) in the Schiit but maybe not the same clarity. Really nice with Grado but frankly I love my Piety best with Grado now. Interested in the RA1 only because it's portable.

Absolutely fantastic review! Thanks for sharing.

That Helene and Genus + PSU are ENOURMOUS. Nice tube selection

Carbon since you are craving a warmer richer sound did you consider A+S kenzie or mogwai ?
smodtactical
I think a taiko extreme in the place of a holo red would fit your collection of huge audio beasts better

Can we get a shatki stone review next?
smodtactical
Carbon why are you using speaker taps on genus and not head out ?
carboncopy
The Genus has 6.3mm jack output. Which has the option low and high impedance output. And it is the same connection as the speaker tabs. The designer did not wanted to build a switch at the power output to have the clearest signal path. The whole amplifier is quite a thing, with full passive PSU (only chokes and capacitors), interstage transformator, null capacitor in the signal path...It is a fantastic amp really. Drove my 1266 TC to high heavens. If I look only consider the sound quality the Genus+Superconductor+1266TC was the absolute best. Ergonomics...not. Second place is a tie between the VM1a+Star8+Raal SR1b and the Decware+2K Copper+Verité Open Champor Burl. Thrid ist the RA-1 +GS3000X.

Excellent review! Just curious as to what the component with the large green circular
light is? Beautiful looking system.

So ultimately sonically do you prefer the ZMF OTL over the genus for verite?
OhmsClaw
@smodtactical I'd hope a purpose-built valve amp surpasses a 2 channel integrated. ZMF's aren't susvara nuclear power memes.
