I believe him, but my guess isn't that mentor is rolled off. Mj3 has a boosted sub bass that probably leaves mentor sounding thin down low in comparison. Never heard the 2 side by side, but against every amp I've compared Mj3 against the sub bass authority is usually the most noticable difference.

For now I'm doubting that it's a bad batch of caps. The caps that are failing are the same rating as the ones beside them, and both of the failing caps are at the same point in their circuit. Would be wildly unlucky, or lucky depending how you wanna look at it.
