Audio-gd R2R DAC Thread
Very interesting. Based on Cirrus Logic? --- EDIT: Sorry it is TDA1541 based. Still interesting "The PCM56P's are teamed up with the CS8414 receiver chip in non-over-sampling mode. This limits the operation to 96Khz and precludes the use of an HDCD facility but then most NOS DAC's have a very...- OCC7N

@oqvist I really want to thank you for putting up this "challange" - I don´t want to spoil too much but R1N is noticeably different on XLR vs ACSS... R8H2 is also different, however not as R1N.- OCC7N

Audio-gd R2R DAC Thread
My whole perception of the R1N is based on ACSS with HE-9 LE......on headphones. Thanks to @oqvist challenging me with ACSS vs XLR. I realised R1N is close to completely another DAC on ACSS. I should have been a Audio-gd seller as much as I talk about the whole ecosystem. Please have the ACSS...- OCC7N

What is important is that you like it. R8H2 is not cheap, but comparing: it is beyond my endgame/satisfaction(overwhelming) and the R1N is right on the sweetspot, gives me a different objective observation than before.....then the R8H2 is damn cheap!, when R1N needs the DI20HE to elevate up from...- OCC7N

call it just make-belief👍 I can take it. I wish it was. Read my post again and see if you understand what I mean without thinking of any sound measuring device… ----- EDIT: Now you know why yours sounds the same:wink: "Master 19 is a true balanced design applying the newest ACSS design which...- OCC7N

Audio-gd R2R DAC Thread
Your welcome😊👍 - Start with nothing(DAC only). Let it burn and shine for 400-600hours. This process will train your ears. It is very crucial imo. Learn every break-in. It is not waste of time. It is an training/investment to your ears. When you connect the U18 after 400hours your can register...- OCC7N

R1N very nice for headphone. DI20HE takes it to another level and equals my R8H2 to my preference. 1:1 R8H2 wins but DI20HE is really big improvement- OCC7N

RCA is atleast great as XLR. Sometimes maybe better. My preference. ACSS is different. This is for the listener who is beyond technicalities or resolution. “It feels like a different band playing” - It takes a different approach of listening. If one is not settled with their setup ACSS might...- OCC7N

So far it is actually interesting to make these kind of comparison. Both XLR and ACSS have their strength as I have started to understand how they each sound, it comes down to preference. XLR is very responsive, and feels technical superior with transients. ACSS is “slower” more sustained...- OCC7N

honestly I wish they were no difference... - Swapped R1N to XLR. Initial impression not promising. Hoping it settles in 2 days. R8H2 has been swapped to ACSS/silver I will spent the next week, in hopes there is no difference, trust me, I hate how good ACSS is. R8H2 is much better performing...- OCC7N

Yes the storage, the controller, the chips on the SSD/NVME, plays a huge role! Thats why I am in love with the old Samsung 980 Pro over any EVO. The newer 990 Pro should be even better. EVO is neutral sounding, 980 Pro has better texture on guitars. Thicker, more analog, sweeter. You said...- OCC7N

Advice: Also do NOT put any headphone on speaker taps. It is soo, a stupid idea, and only show the weakness of findings, if there is any, from given experience. HE-9 LE is good, thanks to its fully ACSS/current design for hungry headphones both preamp and headamp. I do enjoy it with Susvara. For me it is endgame headamp for every headphone. Remarkable even with HE400SE. The cheapest DAC sounds amazing on it. Even the 200dollar ones. It just unlocks...- OCC7N

I did actually think of it as I wanted to downsize. If I could compare it with Enleum 23R it would be interesting. Even more interesting when they get the DAC ready for the ENLINK(Like the ACSS) input on the 23R. I just hope they decide on R2R:L3000: That combo would be the most anticipated...- OCC7N

I just found out how you store your files reflects in quality of the sound on Susvara. It is bigger improvement than filters and cables. Yes it is Block level based not file level based as SMB/NFS, meaning as open and manageable as internal storage. At first day, initial 30min, I did not notice anything. I assumed it was make-belief. That is still SMB or what kind of sharing type are you referring to? SMB/NFS does not come close to ISCSI. I see most routers have SMB...sorry not gonna happen.
