Fostex TH808 :: Impressions Thread
I'll try to review this soon as well. Even if I can provide a Gras-style measurement of it, I hope it helps. I've never used other Fostex models so I cannot compare to those, but I'll do my best to explain the TH808 sonic performance and it compares to some others in a similar category. If...- GadgetryTech

Audeze - Our Maxwell Gaming Headsets! (latest: Firmware v61 and HQ v97)
No problem! Yeah, the WC Freeze are still a great option, especially for the price! TBH I spent waaay too much time testing these pads. At least 20 hours of notes/music testing w comfort, heat, dynamics, leakage, glasses comfort, and of course the total sound impact. In the video I have pad...- GadgetryTech

Audeze - Our Maxwell Gaming Headsets! (latest: Firmware v61 and HQ v97)
I made a detailed video comparing a bunch of pads for the Maxwell. I include frequency response measurements, pad dimensions, and more. Hopefully this helps you if you're considering switching out the stock pads. I have links in the video description to discount some of the pads, including...- GadgetryTech

AXPONA 2024 - April 12-14th in Chicago (Schaumburg), IL - 2ch gear + Headphones
I just settled up in the hotel for the night. Tomorrow can't come soon enough! I made a list of favorites on the app so I could some of the places I had to see. I feel there's never enough time to see everything. For those going for the first time, try planning some of your rooms ahead of... -
Meze Audio introduces LIRIC 2nd Generation - The Art of Evolution
Cross posting from the other thread. I was fortunate enough to review the new Liric and there are many great improvements with it! Original Post: I released my review on the Meze LIRIC second generation this morning. I also took measurements on my rig if it helps! I use a GRAS KB006x (left...- GadgetryTech

It's so simple to remove and swap too. The magnet system is amazing, and it still has an excellent seal.- GadgetryTech

Meze Audio introduces LIRIC 2nd Generation - The Art of Evolution
I released my review on the Meze LIRIC second generation this morning. I also took measurements on my rig if it helps! I use a GRAS KB006x (left and right) pinna clone + IEC711 Coupler fed into an XLR interface with a good preamp. These measurements can be used to compare against others on my...- GadgetryTech

AXPONA 2024 - April 12-14th in Chicago (Schaumburg), IL - 2ch gear + Headphones
Haha - As someone approaching upper 30s, these age classifications will always be a frustrating topic. I don't want to stereotypes by age "bucket", but hey at least you can save some money I suppose? Maybe I'll run into you there! -
AXPONA 2024 - April 12-14th in Chicago (Schaumburg), IL - 2ch gear + Headphones
Hi Everyone, This will be my second time attending AXPONA (https://axpona.com/) and I'm super excited to see/hear so much gear again. They have an "Ear Gear" room, which is like a smaller CanJam. Some bigger brand gave been there including Sennheiser, ZMF, Campfire, Ifi, Meze, Ferrum, etc...- GadgetryTech

Meze EMPYREAN II
I released a video comparing the Empyrean II to the Elite. Both are great but quite different in their delivery. It's a long video but I have chapters if you only care about a certain portion. Feedback is always welcome. I wanted to add a quick note for those that prefer not to watch the...- GadgetryTech

Chicago meetups/stores?
Axpona is in mid-April in Chicago. It's a massive hi-fi show with a lot of 2 channel amps/speakers, BUT, they also have an "ear gear" room that's basically a tiny version of a Can Jam. Meze, Campfire, Sennheiser, Ifi, Focal, etc, are all there. ZMF has been there in the past as well but I'm... -
For those of us with multiple headphones, which ones are you listening with now?
Top 3 for me have been the HD800 S (6XX isn't actually far off), the Audeze LCD-X, and the ZMF Caldera.- GadgetryTech

NITSCH x Schiit Pietus Maximus Release/Impressions Thread
Atrium Closed and Caldera are the only two I have. With that being said, this is the best they have ever sounded before going straight to the DSHA-3FN which is a massive feat considering the price gap. I like my Caldera more on the Pietus Maximus than I did on the Burson Conductor 3X GT.- GadgetryTech

NITSCH x Schiit Pietus Maximus Release/Impressions Thread
Thanks so much! It was sitting on my desk with nothing else below or above it. It's not burning hot, but definitely warmer than other (albeit lower performing amps that are known more for efficiency). Cambridge, THX 887, Hifiman, JDS Atom, Topping, and Ifi were all cooler to the touch...- GadgetryTech

NITSCH x Schiit Pietus Maximus Release/Impressions Thread
Just added my video review of this as well. TLDW: The amp is amazing. I used it with the ESS DAC and it had excellent dynamics and punch to it, paired with smooth vocals and a surprisingly-resolving treble performance without any glare issues. Easily one of my favorite sub $1000 audio...- GadgetryTech

I love the expanded view of your ring DAC topology you have under the glass display case as well. As much as it's fun listening to gear, seeing the design process is awesome too.- GadgetryTech
