THE WATERCOOLER HEADPHONE EDITION – Headphones, Amps, DACs, and desktop/home audio related – a freewheeling discussion of gear, impressions, music, and musings.

As I mentioned previously, the temperature of WA33 is my primary concern. The WA33 does heat up the room a tad and I would like an alternative amplifier that can run 24/7. A DAC is also a worthwhile upgrade (my eyes are on the DAVE or Holo May) however I don't see tubes providing enough...

Wow, thank you for the extensive response. 465 is def not happening but I like your suggestion for Nimbus. I will look into this one. The Hyperion Ge is another lush SAEQ amp which @Kiats speaks highly of as well. Thanks again for the input 🙏

Temperature, but I can't imagine a SS amp competing with the WA33 for heat production. I think a sound signature to complement the WA33 would be best, since I know of no SS amps which run as hot as the WA33. The V281 is in the back of my mind as it presents a tube like signature to complement...

Ah, yes Mass Kobo. Don't see this particular model being covered a lot. I think if I bought that...there would be a voice in my head (probably @goldwerger ) saying "You shoulda bought the 465"

Thank you for these reccs and the thoughtful writeups. I liked Vioelectric when I first got in the hobby many years ago, it had a uniquely tube like sound for a SS amp. The CFA3 from Headamp got a lot of attn at NYC'24, I remember many folks impressed from it as well. Will look into these as...

I have limits my friend! I think the Bliss+May KTE is good value, and it has proven itself in the community, so no guilt there.

Haha, yes but not anytime soon. The WA33/1266 depleted my hobby fund for a bit, but it gives me time to scour the landscape for a good DAC and secondary amp. I’m not surprised the Bliss is getting recommended. A friend of mine has it and loves it. I may just pull the trigger on both the Bliss...

Question for the Watercooler: Currently own a 1266 TC and plan to pick up a Susvara at some point. I'm looking for a solid state amp as a companion for my WA33 Tube amp. Ideally this amp should run cooler than the WA33. I was looking at the XI Audio Formula S, however it was pointed out to me...

The JPS Labs: Abyss AB-1266 Impressions Thread

I have used these lovely 1266 headphones for 5 hours. Not a single feeling of discomfort, in fact these are far more comfortable than the MDR Z1R Sony headphone. The reputation of this headphone having comfort issues is what gave me pause for so long. Dang, I should've bought these sooner. It's...

Happy Saturday everyone! Today marks my first day with the Abyss 1266 Phi TC, the headphone I bought to go with my WA33. This headphone was a blind buy, I never was able to hear one at a show due to long lines at the Abyss room. It seems Abyss is having trouble keeping up with production, but...

For 1266 owners, have you found the ZMF Pilot Pad (on the metal headband) useful to aid the comfort? I should be taking delivery of my headphone on Friday, but curious if I should order this accessory. https://shop.zmfheadphones.com/products/pilot-pad

I have, on the DMP some years ago. I think if I go that route, I will likely go for a Focal Nutopia since the 1266 TC has the soundstage advantage the HD800S has. But I would like to try HD800S on the WA33.

The Watercooler -- Impressions, philosophical discussion and general banter. Index on first page. All welcome.

That setup plucks you from reality and thrusts you into whatever is playing. The texture is my favorite part, lending to a natural sound. Somehow the presentation is very engaging, I am chalking this up to the Wilson magical mids. Enjoy!

I am keeping an eye on the Susvara 2, but DCA has a certain ‘pure’ sonic signature that I like.
