One of the main benefits of Roon for me is to NOT have to mess with the meta data, tags, etc. :) … But I can see it being a zen-like activity. I would be interested in some of the tweaks/corrections you are making. PM incoming - MatW

Elysian Annihilator 2023
I felt the same when I first demoed the Fei Wan, too energetic in the treble. But when I tried it again recently I did not have that much of an issue with it. I think it would be fine for the majority of my music. I was very impressed with it overall, and I hope to add the Fei Wan to the...- MatW

The Beth Gibbons album is lovely, I have given it several listens in the past week. Try these Todd, for sub bass. When I play them with my modest (in comparison) Devialet Phantoms, they make the windows shake: James Blake - Limit to your Love Beyonce - Partition Have fun! :)- MatW

No, if the 1266 has the newer headband (a few years old now, but there was a thinner one before that, and the O-rings could not be replaced with that one), it is quite soft, in my experience.- MatW

I posted a picture of it a few times in this thread, but I use my desktop gear mostly for headphones, as opposed to IEMs. And yes, it is a mighty fine piece of equipment, in combination with the M scaler indeed.- MatW

It has been in my setup 1 for 3 or 4 years. 🤭 It already happened, at the Amsterdam watercooler meeting. :dt880smile:- MatW

A bit late with my reply, but I am quite happy with my new Forza extension cable, allowing me to (more easily) listen to IEMs straight from the Chord DAVE.- MatW

Exactly this. My ear canals are too narrow for the nozzle + tips, so I need to create a seal further out, with large eartips.- MatW

Sounds like you need large eartips. I have the same issues with 64 audio IEMs. With large eartips (L or XL) I can keep them in my ears.- MatW

Prog rock
Harsh vocals are an acquired taste I guess. When done right they give me goose bumps. Two examples that I really love: Please note their clean vocals prowess as well! To compensate for these, here is a PPE alumn from my country, with lovely female vocals (although the English... -

I would have thought the Jewel, but since you have that one already clearly that is not what you are looking for. I did not have enough ear time with the 622B because they were painful for me. But in terms of IEMs with neutral/reference tuning and DD bass I would have said the Jewel, although...- MatW

For IEMs, I'm inclined to say the Fiio FH7. It was my very first IEM, costing 500 euros at the time. I bought one again recently, to see how it holds up against higher end IEMs, and I have to say it's quite good still, with a fairly balanced signature and a nice DD bass. It is pretty and...- MatW

That’s a good point, I didn’t know the little guy packed so much punch! What a great player for the price. Curious to see how the Annihilator fares with the Sony then, which is waiting for me back home.. I got it mainly for the esthetics. :)- MatW

The Annihilator may have the reputation of being hard to drive, but as I’m traveling with my smallest DAP, the Shanling M6 Ultra, I think it sounds excellent nonetheless. The Annihilator is such a great allrounder for me. Everything I listen to just sounds great with these. Now listening to the...- MatW
