Ferrum WANDLA - Impressions Thread
If I have understood correctly, you can basically roll back to the other version if you really want to, but I don’t know if there is any chance of getting your money back - they could tie the software to your serial number or some other identifier and give you a trial period, but I really don’t...- wagninger

It looks like they have an analog, wired input and a digital, wireless input. So I’d assume the same thing you do, the question is, do you do anything that requires their internal DSP? Room correction is critical for me, so I’d certainly go the wireless route if the analog path would bypass that.- wagninger

So the Oors outputs are always both on, if you run speakers from it and connect headphones, you’ll have signal on both, and no separate volume adjustment.- wagninger

Why don't you simulate that right now and put a filter on the test files starting at, say, 18kHz and see if you can still hear any differences? would be interesting I think- wagninger

Just a random interjection, I have another audio interface on the desktop for my active speakers because the Ferrum stack is not directly connected to the main desktop PC, but yesterday I decided to test it. the bad first: - connected to the Oor in bypass, my speakers did not turn off after 1h...- wagninger

You can do a lot with players like VLC that also accept web addresses as input, and there you can set the delay to exactly +- 2.5 seconds- wagninger

Don’t be afraid 😁 I switched to Ubuntu when windows Vista was about to come out, so nothing was as stable as it is these days…. This absolutely helps, thanks! I’m assuming win10 or 11 as the OS, and that DSD512 in general is more taxing than, for example, PCM 1.5Mhz would be? I also saw that the 3080 has significant more CUDA cores than the 4070, which is what would help here, right?- wagninger

Hey folks, I am currently stumbling over many online discussions about which hardware to get to run HQPlayer at pretty high settings optimally. I am in a bit of an interesting situation right now in that I’m buying a “new” PC for the sole purpose of running HQplayer, Roon will run somewhere...- wagninger

I believe always upsampling to 384/352,8khz, filters are the handful that you can choose on the Wandla interface. But it would also be interesting to have an A/B comparison of the stock configuration, no HQPlayer, because that’s how they come out the box.- wagninger

Ferrum WANDLA GoldenSound Edition - Pre-Orders are Live!
Yeah, let’s stay positive - the best DAC at its price point got a new version with more features at a higher price point, as is deserved. If nobody buys it, that’s solid feedback - if people go nuts and even existing users all upgrade, job well done. I’m curious.- wagninger

My setup is so compartmentalized… usb from the computer to the RME, next to that a raspberry pi and the Ferrum stack, and the Mojo connected to whatever device is closest. This will seriously bring things together- wagninger
