Seeking Insights on DAC Inputs: Eversolo Streamers vs. Custom Streaming PC
Thank you for your input. Your point suggests that unless a device is malfunctioning or some form of digital signal processing (DSP) is applied, the digital-to-analog conversion process should remain unaffected by the digital source itself. This insight leads me to ponder whether the Eversolo...- DScience

Thought I was an audiophile, what's wrong?
Oh geez....Well I started browsing the thread of people here posting their HiFi home systems. And i've realized I know nothing. I feel embarrassed even making this thread. I want to learn more. When I see all these pictures it just doesn't even make sense to me. Where do I start?- DScience

Thought I was an audiophile, what's wrong?
Thank you for the feedback, I really appreciate it. To your first question, yea I think clarity is what i'm looking for most. I am not so much into bass. Based off that, maybe that is why I can't tell a huge difference between these two headphones. I also own the AT MD50's and I do prefer the...- DScience

Thought I was an audiophile, what's wrong?
Hello there... First I just want to say that I love music and high quality listening. But I am second guessing myself. A few years ago I started collecting FLAC files for all my music. I don't have the money for super high-end gear, and invested in a sound card because I do all my listening...- DScience

Need advice for home audio in apartment complex
Hello there, I am in a bit of a predicament and would appreciate advice. Although this doesn't involve headphones, I assume many of you have home audio systems as well. I'm using simple studio monitors (M Audio BX5 D2 no sub). I live in a one bedroom apartment, and the only "neighbor" I...- DScience

New & confused - help desperately needed :)
I recently got into this hobby and I started with ATH AD700. They were great, but sold them for the ATH AD900X and these are amazing! I would think they are as good as any headphone for $300 or less in terms of sound quality. However, I recently got the ATH M50's and i actually like them a...- DScience

New to headphones, question about connections to sound card/computer/speakers
Just to update, I ended up getting the creative Z. It was OK. But then I got the Asus STX, and WOW! I honestly now think these headphones are finally getting what they deserve. I know it could be better if I got some external stuff, but for now I want to get used to this set up. I am so...- DScience

Advice on a comfortable headphone comparable to the AD900X
Me too....I mean they are not tight by any means, I guess i'm just ultra sensitive. I have loosened them up a bit. I put them over the arm of my couch, which is larger then my head, and they seem to be better. We'll after some testing today.- DScience

Advice on a comfortable headphone comparable to the AD900X
Long story short, I started with the ATH AD700's and loved them. They fit loose, but the clamping pressure was perfect for me. Well I recently upgraded to the AD900X, and i've been using them for the past few days. Immediately I realized that the clamping pressure on these was greater. Yesterday...- DScience

New to headphones, question about connections to sound card/computer/speakers
Quote: Thanks, I think I figured it out. Although I haven't decided exactly what I am going to do. Right now I am really happy with the Asrock extreme6 z87's on-board sound. Here is a link for their website explaining the features. Anyway it has 115 DB SNR, and a 600 ohm amp. I am hoping...- DScience

New to headphones, question about connections to sound card/computer/speakers
Quote: I'm really confused about the impedance. I understand that the AD900X are 40-ohm (the specs say 38). And, I also read that the STX has a 600 ohm headphone amp. Where does the 10-Ohm impedance come into play? I keep thinking about the equation V=IR and I just can't wrap my head around...- DScience

New to headphones, question about connections to sound card/computer/speakers
Well I have some things to report. First, I ended up getting a pair of the ATH-AD900X, in fact they just arrived and i'm giving them a listen. Initially I couldn't tell that big of a difference between these and the AD700's. The bass was obviously more pronounced, but it took a few songs...- DScience

Are counterfeit headphones common? Thoughts on buying used...
Hello there, So I recently got a pair of audio technica ad700's and I already am thinking about upgrading. I love the style and fit, so logically I have been looking at the ad900x. I found a used pair on Amazon, and the seller who has good ratings stated that the phones are in "like new"...- DScience
