They are both great amplifiers. I found that S17 has more presence, control and punch in the low end and is more forgiving for brighter headphones like some Beyerdynamics models. S17 betters Sa-1 in driving ‘difficult/demanding’ headphones like HE6se. … I expect the hd6xx to be a good match for...

Agreed, thanks for the tip! I still have T90’s with both the balanced mod and high frequency mod by ‘Custom Cans’. On other amplifiers I always had to EQ them to further tame the 8k peak but on the S17 Pro they really shine as-is.

I believe you and respect your opinion. But I also believe that our individual hearing and preferences (yours and mine) are very subjective. Let’s accept there’s no real objective right or wrong (or best), like they say in Marketing: “Perception is reality” ;-)

Did you consider replacement, I have the same headphone like you (HE6sev2 with 4.4mm balanced cable), S17 Pro temperature 55-56 degrees at 100mA and 10 degrees cooler at 50mA. Ambient/room temperature of 20 degrees. DAC is Gustard R26 connected via XLR balanced. I don’t have temperature issues...

Agree, I also have positive experience with Florian and Aune Europe, he was very helpful and offered me excellent service. If you return a product that has (minor) visible signs of use he has the right to not give you a full refund. Let’s not convict the guy based on one complaint of which we...

I recognize the lack of needing EQ on the S17 Pro, but from a music enjoyment perspective I personally consider this a positive characteristic. Ofcourse not every record sounds the same, it adds a subtle tube-like ‘character’, as the manufacturer intended, and the level can be somewhat adjusted...

In post #933 Aune is very clear with the below statement: “Hi, if there's a problem of your device, we recommend you to contact your seller to test it. If it's malfunctioning, you may need a repair or replacement.” Nothing ‘vague’ in that statement, to me.

As far as I know there are some unfortunate combinations with specific (low impedance) headphones that have higher temperatures but also those S17 units should not overheat when there is no (or another higher impedance) headphone connected.

MigueIP, an S17 overheating without anything connected at a room temperature of 20 degrees is not normal. When my S17 is powered on at 18 degrees room temperature it wil max out at 55 with no extra ventilation whatsoever.

Open a dispute at AliExpress because the seller sold you a defective product.

Advantage of R26 is that it has an excellent streamer included. I can stream Hi-res Qubuz via Roon directly to the R26 (LAN port) or upsample it using HQPlayer and then send it directly to the R26 built in (NAA) Network Audio Adapter. R26 has an additional separate DSD ladder but I prefer...

… for most mortals this combination could be ‘end-game’ stuff ;-) More seriously the R26 is really good and complements the S17 nicely. For me the S17 also unleashed the HE6se v2’s real potential. Those 3 items where my best purchases ever and I am really enjoying my music as never before!

At a room temperature between 18-21 degrees my S17 never get’s near 60 degrees. Attached a picture after playing for a whole day with no extra ventilation @100mA being stacked directly on top of my R26 DAC (that is warm to the touch).

I can somewhat understand temperature rise with a difficult load but without any load or signal sounds like it needs to be serviced or replaced.

Looking at Zaemon’s pictures I assume he cares about both sound quality and aesthetics. I agree that an ss2590 could bring a significant boost in sound quality but to be honest on the X8 it is a practical and cosmetic challenge compared to his current nice and clean setup. Luckily they do fit...

It’s not Delta-Sigma but I really like the Gustard R26 / S17 Pro combination.

I shipped my unit to the Distributor, he very carefully opened the case, re-programmed it, factory-sealed it and returned it to me again. The s/n I received is the same as the unit I sent.
