Stupid question: Is there a USB-C to 2 pin DAC+cable that can make my Blessing 3 sound like the dusk?

If you get an Apple 3.5mm to USB adapter for $9 you'll have all the power you need to equalize the sound in a music player and do a preamp reduction to compensate. I've had the Blessing 3 and they're pretty neutral which makes them really easy to equalize. I use Poweramp for Android which has...

    *Decision* IEM vs True Wireless

The Sennheiser Momentum 3 are the best wireless buds I've heard. I've had those Sonys too, and you'll like the detail and clarity of the Momentum 3 a lot better. Mids are realistic and treble is consistent out of the box. I just used the phone app to update the firmware but you really don't need...

Learning Parametric Equalization, how do I begin this journey to some degree of being a pro?

Also I was on the phone before so didn't have this handy to post. This should give a good starting point to see the ranges. Whippedcreamsounds did a good job on it.

Any advice regarding a portable dac/amp?

There's no beating the performance of the Topping G5. I've had several for the business. At 10 ounces it's hefty. The Tanchjim Space is the best dongle, the 4.4mm is impressive for its size on power and SINAD.

Does it make sense to be an audio purist?

I usually just EQ some bass in a music player and play games out of the box on most things. There's many good choices you can usually get really close to your preference at affordable prices. If you want pure then the Beyerdynamic MMX Gen1 is flat as a pancake as it's based on the Signum HD400...

What is a $200-$300 more better Aria 2

I've had dozens and the Kato is fun and the treble has a lot of air and just the right amount of bass when it's called for. Value for money is the 7hz Salnotes Zero:2 hands down though. The original Timeless AE is the best planar magnetic along with the Tanchjim Hannah if you like the luxury...

Learning Parametric Equalization, how do I begin this journey to some degree of being a pro?

The easy way is on Peace/APO and also Poweramp is use the Autoeq profiles on your headphones to hear the changes and then I tweak them from there. The YouTube tutorials are great since they show and you can hear the differences. On Audiosciencereview Amir has a lot of videos that are informative.

The Deals DISCUSSION Thread (READ THE FIRST POST!!!)

Kicking the weekend off early: KZ x HBB PR2 13.2mm Planar Driver in Ear Monitor new $26.99 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0C3RBJQ1L/ I just ordered a pair for travel with the phone and Apple 3.5mm to USB adapter. Planar IEMs for $27...wow. I've had them before and like the tuning. The 7hz...

Tube amps for low impedance headphones?

The SMSL DACs that have both filter and color settings are a terrific way to achieve that without equalizing. There is ohm resistors you can plug into, adapters that raise the impedance too. The only DAC filter that rolls off the treble enough I've had was the original AK4499 but that started...

    Ear cleaning tips and effects

The best way is distilled water which has no minerals or impurities. Just don't load it into a water pistol or your family might get alarmed :)

need help choosing a type-c dac

The Tanchjim Space measures well and the 4.4mm balanced side has really great performance. Its up there with some desktop DACs and I used it with the phone and on the PC. The humble $9 Apple USB to 3.5mm is the value for money winner. I've got two. Also the Creative X1 auto detects and over...

    IEMS for metal

I've got two pairs of Kato and the 7hz original Timeless is really fast for metal but you need a $9 Apple USB to 3.5mm adapter to power them fully, a phone won't do it. The fastest ear buds I've ever heard were the Creative Aurvana Ace 2 I got at Christmas and was one of the first pairs to ship...

    Upgrade for the EA1000

I've got those and the Sennheiser IE600 would fit better and excellent imaging. Dunu S&S tips are longer and might give you a solid fit though. I personally have more fun with the Moondrop Kato or original EA500 than the EA1000. The 7hz original Timeless (not the AE version with its dynamic...

Do solid state amplifiers sound the same ?

A lot of the 120 SINAD amplifiers I have sound almost identical. They use different methods to eliminate distortion but the result is the same. The ones I have and can tell the difference is the SMSL has faster note decay and the Topping stuff is a little fuller or smoother for acoustic...

    IEMs with different sound signatures

There's tutorials on how to read a frequency response chart and learning how things sound on the charts is the most important thing to save time and money shopping online for audio. The ones with a Harman curve tuning are the most popular and versatile. For $25 get the 7hz Crinnacle Zero:2 and...

Buying IEMs from AliExpress or other seemingly random websites?

If you avoid wish.com which are almost all fakes you should be ok. AliExpress has fake "DIY" versions so I wouldn't buy high end stuff there unless it's an established store with great feedback for the item.

Best Dac for 500$ in 2024?

The best value for money is the Topping E50 for 4 volt or the SMSL DO200 Pro which I just got for a 5.2 volt if your amp can handle it without clipping in high gain. The SMSL DO400 is another I like too. It's a 5.2v DAC but has 3 watts into 32ohm and sounds great on its own. If your amp ever...

Used moondrop chu for 11$, is it worth buying?

The 7hz Zero:2 is much better for $25 new. I've had the Chu II and it was bassy but the mids and treble just wasn't with it, the $10 Yincrow X6 was better for vocals if you like ear bud style.

    2pin cable

Artti cables are really nice, thick and don't tangle with transparent sound. The multi kit feels more durable than the TRS stuff. The Artti T10 are excellent for bassheads, and worth it just for the cable they come with.

The best IEM for less than $250?

The Moondrop Blessing 2 or 3 are pretty neutral and easy to EQ. If durability is the goal, no IEM is guaranteed to take a drop on a hardwood floor. My strategy is the Yincrow X6 for travel which are neutral and under $10 so I don't stress about it on the road. At home the Moondrop Kato are fun...

Best DAC for Sennheiser HD600 under US$ 500

The SMSL DL200 or C200 are terrific and the Topping DX5 is on sale at drop.com and also a great performer. I've had them all for the business and solid choices.

How do you deal with tangled cables? It’s killing me!

The cables from Artti are tangle proof. I got T10 from them and they were so thick and tangled free. They sell them separately too. The cheap way is black rubber bands from the women's hair care section of a grocery store or even a dollar store. They're small and easy to wind up quickly to...
