Singxer SU-6
Since this thread is about the SU-6: I tried both the iFi and the SMPS that came with the Singxer and could not hear a difference.- whodiini

Highs are presented in a more natural way - not harsh, reduces listening fatigue. I use it with a Yggdrasil 2 and it is not too bright. It works very well, providing added detail naturally. I must say I do not understand how or why it works better if it is a dd, but to my ears, it does!- whodiini

Singxer SU-6
As I mentioned in the first post, I compared this directly with the matrix spdif2. I found this device better sonically compared to both the matrix and the mutec which I also own. I don’t know why it sounds better but it does. Bass is better and focus and soundstage are better. After 2 months...- whodiini

Yes, I thought I could replace my Matrix SPDIF2 with the dx7s USB to coax but I found that it was far inferior to the Matrix - and like several other people, I found that the SMSL SU-8 was more pleasant sounding than the DX7s from USB input, which didnt make sense. When I have time, I will open...- whodiini

"using CRYSTEK's CCHD-957 high-performance femtosecond crystal oscillator, with the self-developed constant temperature system". Oh, I see the wording of the oven control - they made their own system. You're right, that's rare that a unit at this price point has one.- whodiini

Singxer SU-6
I will try your suggestions. But I was not aware that the Singxer SU-6 uses an OCXO. According tp the specs it use two Crystek's CCHD-957, which have low phase noise but are not oven controlled crystals. The Crystek's CCHD-957 are ~ $30 each, while OCXO are much more.- whodiini

Singxer SU-6
After a few days, here's my impressions. It does sound different than other reclockers. Not a subtle change where you need to carefully do an A-B. It is obvious and from SirOli, corroborated with my impressions. The biggest change is that the musical lines are much more distinct. If one had a...- whodiini

Singxer SU-6
Starting a new thread for the Singxer Su-6 reclocker. Purpose is similar to the Singxer SU-1, which I dont own and the Matrix SPDIF 2, and the Mutec MC3+, both of which I own and will compare. Just got it today, and my initial impression is that it is pretty darn good. I use these to take a...- whodiini

Schiit Eitr impression and USB-SPDIF converters discussion
Lots of confusion here. There are 2 parts of a cable: the cable and the connector. The cable is typically coaxial and can be the same whether it uses a RCA and BNC connector. A coax cable is uniform impedance whether it is 1 inch or 100 ft. Now the connector: a BNC can be the same...- whodiini

Schiit Eitr impression and USB-SPDIF converters discussion
My 2 hour initial listen was interesting. The mutec sounded different than my FireWire to spdif to Big Ben to aes/ebu. Need more extended tests. The mutec was more analog sounding and less high frequencies (less hash?). Whereas the Big Ben preserved the same sound but made it better. Too bad...- whodiini

Thanks. Wasn’t aware of The mutec. Just bought one and received it today. Will try to compare with the Big Ben. So far tried Mac mini usb -> audio alchemy and sounded digital at its worst Inserted the mutec and much much better. Not sure if it is as good as the FireWire to Big Ben but it...- whodiini

Question: would this help in my setup Currently; Macmini (firewire) -> M-Audio610 firewire to SPDIF coax -> Apogee Big ben reclocker SPDIF to balanced -> elac/Audio alchemy DDP-1 DAC Thinking of simplifying Macmini (USB) -> EITR USB to SPDIF coax -> elac/Audio alchemy DDP-1 DAC My current...- whodiini

LH Labs Geek Out v2 Discussion Thread
Just received my GO2A. I must say, it is worth it. The red aluminum chassis speaks quality hi-end, whereas the GOv2 chassis was amateurish. Soundwise, it sounds great. The GOv2 was good, but not great IMHO. The 2A I captured me (with 192 kHz recordings) and I couldnt stop listening. I then...- whodiini
