Hmmm, they would need to be really long, slow cooked to be edible though.... and then cardboard tasting springs to mind. Or dried leather & Sweat Socks, literally :astonished: Apologies to @bcowen ... cardboard would be way better than this. *Hush Puppies in Oz are shoes ...

Would be hard to sit the Freya or Kara on top of it then, just sayin'

Yes please!! I would see this as a downstream device, following the pre-amp and adding capability to the system, rather than as a potential desktop/gaming dac/pre-amp, TV add on etc, as per the Syn in it's current incarnation. For me it would be same size as Freya/Kara (and Lokius Max for that...

I think you could easily try it sans sub if they really hit low. Save the $$s and get some whisky to improve the SQ instead

The XMC-1 was great, don't get me wrong on that! I just wanted a different direction, and squeezing down the space taken up with everything was a driver. I have balanced out to the main amps through the Lokius. I will be in the queue if ever an Ultimate Syn is released. Freya sized ideally...

Yes, exactly that. If I need to adjust the other controls, it's usually only for watching something, or perhaps a tweak for headphones.

For those who are concerned with the lack of a sub level control on the Syn, I use one of these in the line from the Syn to the sub. Works beautifully. I run the sub a bit hot, and this usually at 12 o'clock. Very easy to tweak up or down...

I must/will resist :relaxed: * although Joey from "Friends" would not be able to contain his mirth.

Would you need a sub? Maybe. What's the bottom end on the CVs? A dedicated sub may go a lot lower, but depending on your use case, perhaps not a need.

For me, Syn is awesome. For background it replaced an XMC-1 (after it replaced a number of AVRs over the years). I wanted a a few outcomes: - Centered dialogue - "Ambient" surround, bring the soundstage forward and past the seating position - Subwoofer output - significant size savings as...

Being from Melbourne (mostly) I have had the chance to see John Farnham a few times. Before his "comeback" solo career with Whispering Jack, he was leading up LRB and they were playing small (think pub size) venues around the place. Freaking awesome gigs as these guys really knew how to play...
