We made day trips there whilst living in Cincinnati. Just the right distance for that.

"Life on the Mississippi" was great, I've been to many of the places that Mr. Clemens described. Now it's across the Atlantic to visit Europe and the Holy Land. His writing is not easy and requires rapt attention or I miss the zings he throws at me.

I love Mingus and there's a Mingus "Big Band" in NYC that recreates his music very well. I also love Theloneous Monk. Not every jazz fan is a fan of those two artists ... I like 'em because they're unique. When you get those completed, check out the bassist Avashai Cohen. I hope it never stops...

Chick Corea performs a composition by Alexander Scriabin live with his trio of Christian McBride and Brian Blade. That this music still works today shows how advanced Mr. Scriabin was for his time ... 1872 to 1915. And too, the genius of Chick Corea.
