Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

We made day trips there whilst living in Cincinnati. Just the right distance for that.

Actually, Boerne reminds me a lot of another town we have visited many times: Nashville. Indiana. Have you been there, Tom? BTW, many happy returns. :-)

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

I listened to much of Coltrane '58, it's 5 1/2 hours long, and the music is presented in chronological order. It was educational to hear how Mr. Coltrane progressed as band leader through the year of 1958. It started out on the verge of saxophone "overload" but it concluded with him giving his...

What Are You Listening To Right Now?

A few songs were composed by JC, the rest are standards. Here's Harold Arlen. Song composed by Fred Lacey. The album proceeds in chronological order through the 1958 sessions, it's easy to hear Mr. Coltrane progress as a band leader. Listen to the space he gives to Kenny Burrell (guitar) and...

Talk about genius level ... Quincy Jones qualifies! Thanks for your comments. I, too, am a fan of the Mothers of Invention. Have you heard this album? :)

What Are You Listening To Right Now?

Thank you for the nice comment ... it's a fascinating hobby - so many great artists and music out there. I really enjoy learning the back-story to the music and especially the artists. That leads to interesting pathways. Since I added Roon and Qobuz last year, it's gotten much easier for me to...

Me too, very much. She was a micro-brew enthusiast and they would take road trips to sample new beers. How cool is that. :-)

What book are you reading right now?

"Life on the Mississippi" was great, I've been to many of the places that Mr. Clemens described. Now it's across the Atlantic to visit Europe and the Holy Land. His writing is not easy and requires rapt attention or I miss the zings he throws at me.

What Are You Listening To Right Now?

I love Mingus and there's a Mingus "Big Band" in NYC that recreates his music very well. I also love Theloneous Monk. Not every jazz fan is a fan of those two artists ... I like 'em because they're unique. When you get those completed, check out the bassist Avashai Cohen. I hope it never stops...

What Are You Listening To Right Now?

The first album is complex but a bit quiet ... this one is better for me. Song composed by Cole Porter. Cool rhythms ... this is the best album of the three. Song composed by Joni Mitchell. Had some lagniappe time, so explored a bit of this album. Tasty stuff. Studio album from 2018. All...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Chick Corea performs a composition by Alexander Scriabin live with his trio of Christian McBride and Brian Blade. That this music still works today shows how advanced Mr. Scriabin was for his time ... 1872 to 1915. And too, the genius of Chick Corea.
