    The discovery thread!

Not yet, unfortunately. I think I’m done with my sources for now. W4 + R3II for outdoor, DX300 for critical listening. I might upgrade the amp card of DX300.

I’m very curious about Shanling H series because they can play audio independently thanks to built in SD card and OS. However, the high output impedance is concerning to me, since I only use IEMs. Shanling themselves are quite confident about H5, pitching it against the likes of M6 Ultra, which...

The Mojo has no amp, right? Driving directly from the DAC. I remember Ivan at E1DA makes a big deal about the advantage of that design of his DAC. Anyhow, I much prefer Mojo with an amp, which ended up being too clunky. But that device feels much much nicer in hands than on internet photos. If...

You are pretty much done with the source game with Mojo 2. Maybe add a pure amp later if you want. I had excellent experience pairing Mojo2 with G5 in pure amp mode. However, the DX300 by itself sound the same as this Frankenstein creation, so I decided to skip the Mojo 2. Another kickass...

The Official 64 Audio Thread | apex & tia Technologies

It’s a work tool that was designed to deliver a “flat” mix. IMHO, 64 audio wouldn’t be 64 audio and the U12t wouldn’t remain in conversation nowadays despite being released 7 years ago if 64 audio didn’t managed to nail that “flat” mix. How you wear U12t would impact its sound signature...

    The discovery thread!

Final Audio recommends spending a few days to get over the expectation of the old sound. I think AB is helpful to exaggerate the difference. Case and point: pilgrim sounds downright mid- to low-res when AB against Anni 2023. Leave them alone a bit and come back, pilgrim sounds high res again...

The Watercooler -- Impressions, philosophical discussion and general banter. Index on first page. All welcome.

The world would be better if everyone takes what they do as serious as he does, I imagined. Anyhow, change to the world comes from inside our home. Now is now. Next time is next time.

    ~ $400-range IEM

To my ears, ThieAudio IEMs treble is perfectly fine, but they are not warm and cozy like some other brands. I also seem to have higher treble tolerance than others, so.

    ~ $400-range IEM

I haven't, unfortunately. I have only reviewed the Hype2. In general, ThieAudio has a particular house sound with a moderate amount of treble. You are unlikely to find any warm and easy going from them.

    ~ $400-range IEM

I responded to your various concerns about the treble of Hype4. That's why I recommend go for IER-M9. That IEM was designed to be listenable at high volume in extended sessions for stage use. It has to have enough treble but not piercing at high volume.

Random thoughts when I AB U12T and Anni 2023: Today I learned that U12T is a 7-year old design :astonished: Besides changes in accessories and packaging, it has essentially the same tuning and same driver topology, and still kicks ass. Talk about staying power. There is still nothing offering...

    Elysian Pilgrim

Yup, these 3 sound exactly like how they graph. Pilgrim is the most easy going on of the bunch. Anni is the most dynamic and fun. Both Anni and Gaea are more slammy and dynamic than Pilgrim. Treble of Anni is on a difference universe comparing to the other two, IMHO.

I expected nothing from this IEM, and it blew my mind :dt880smile:
