CHORD ELECTRONICS DAVE
Yeah, triangular PDF dither is fine for the first and second moments of the total error, but not higher moments - this means it creates signal dependent errors. What about the Quarter M Scaler? What improvements made there apart from a separate 75W PSU? I suppose this is why it takes such a...- alexsh1

Thank you for taking time to reply to the above questions. Looking forward to listening to the Quartet Talking about illusion, if we go back to the M Scaler, it adds noise and jitter (phase-locked loop?) into the DAC. If we start talking about noise, the optimal analogue dither is triangular...- alexsh1

Cayin RU7: 1-Bit Resistor Network Dongle DAC /Amp
I do not have a big issue with DSD64. With DSD256 it does drain the battery faster. You may need a power bank and an iBasso cable to feed the DAC from the power bank.- alexsh1

I am sure from a technical point of view it is better. Whether it sounds "better" is very very subjective.- alexsh1

CHORD ELECTRONICS DAVE
Thanks for heads up Rob. I have a few years for you: 1. Why working for 5 years for Dave's add-on rather than a new Dave? You had Dave, then the M Scaler add-on and noq Quarter M Scaler add-on. 2. I understand that Quartet M scaler has got a separate 75W power supply and 5 FPGAs. Essentially...- alexsh1

all those DACs were purchased in 2021/2022. So it is more like 60-65% discount to RPP- alexsh1

Weise Helios DAC is a good example! In my view and I am sure many would disagree, only a streamer and maybe DAC have to be upgraded in the whole system be it 2ch or headphones. I still use a tube amp and this is a technology from the 1940s with maybe some little improvement. And quality cables...- alexsh1

Nothing is perfect. As I have designed my own PCBs and did other things including the front panel design, I know that designing any complex product like a DAC is never going to be perfect. There is a sound theory and physics and there is a sound perception. And the latter is VERY subjective...- alexsh1

Let's just admit it - this is not about audio any more. Reviewers are also pushing a lot of people for needless upgrades. Particularly on "Chi Hi Fi" when a new product is coming out every 6 months. Things used to be much more stable years ago when 2 channel setup was for life. I believe due to...- alexsh1

You may be right. Chord Electronics products work really well together through the BNC conn and I think this was a plan from the very beginning.- alexsh1
