For sale is my Ampsandsound Forge, the collaboration with headphones.com and Ampsandsound. This is the 8/100 ohm output impedance version.

What is a Forge? An amazing beast of an amp, it has tons of power, very "tubey" with slight treble roll off and big bass impact, but with a surprising amount of detail and very wide soundstage. I'm only selling because I only own dynamic driver headphones now and prefer the synergy with the more neutral sounding ZMF Pendant. With the Arya Stealth (and of course all of my dynamic driver headphones) this sounds amazing.

Tubes included: Matched pair of Sophia Electric KT88's blue glass ($350/pair - top 10%), probably with around 200 hours on them. A Tung-Sol 6SL7GT round plates with less than 50 hours ($200 from Tube Depot), an RCA Red Base 5961 measuring strong (from Ebay), both with tightly balanced triodes (*note this is not the same 5961 as my other ad, as this one is dead silent*). The RCA is super smooth with amazing timbre, and the Tung-Sol very fast and punchy with more extension on both ends. The only stock tube included is the JJ 6SL7.

Newly serviced by Justin, who basically rebuilt the whole amp with a new top plate last month and sent it back "perfect" (Justin's words). When I received this amp from a seller on US Audio Mart, it had a defect on the top plate near the large transformer that the seller agreed to pay for in full (what an angel!), hence the reason for the repair. It's essentially a new Forge because of this, the only defects being small imperfections on the chassis (see photos).

Details: $2050 $1950 $1900 including PP fees and shipping - in original large plastic travel case. Big discount for a local deal in the LA area, or for payment with PP F&F to established members. No trades. Auteur Classic not included

PM with any and all questions, and thanks for looking!

What does 8/100 ohm output mean
It means you get two headphone outs with this amp, labeled "Low Z" and "High Z," one with an output impedance of 8 ohms, and the other with 100 ohms. This is one of two options for this amp, the other being the 32/300 ohm version. PM me with any more questions about it. I'm happy to explain it all in more detail!

This to me is the preferred configuration for ampsandsound outputs, great for planar and Grado (8 ohm) and Sennheiser or ZMF (100 ohm).

Your ears may differ!

If you want the best quality with the best transformer based tube amps on the planet, ampsandsound is where you go. The fact you can find these entry level units cheaply, given inflation etc, is a great opportunity. People don't like the old school looks maybe? I love the way the tubes are visible. Solid state look is nice too, clean and Scandinavian.
