Audio-Technica ATH W5000 Raffinato in very good condition. Working perfectly. Original earpads (high quality lamb skin) in good shape. Beautiful ebony cups. Very light and comfortable for me.

Very unique headphone shining in acoustic or ambient music. Very spacious presentation with great dynamics and energy. Resolution and detail level very good. I simply upgraded the pads with foam insert (inside of earcups). Fully reversable modification (just take over and then you can put inside again). But thanks to this they sound fuller with more impact. Pads are little higher with better seal.

Reason of selling? I bought ES-R10 which has similar qualities, but better suits my preferences. However before ES-R10 my favourite closed-back for acoustic music (especially with piano, cello, guitar or violin) was the W5000. Very natural with great timbre. They can recreate the atmosphere of the places where the recordings where made – big concert hall or small room – better than many other headphones.

W5000 is predecessor of AWKT - the same cups, the same drivers, different headband and earpads. BUT W5000 has even better voice coil - 8N OFC(!) vs 6N OFC in AWKT.

W5000 has fixed cable, but it is good quality with 6N pure OFC copper. Direct connection to the drivers in fact is also beneficial (avoiding any additional connectors, that interfere with sound signal).
